Position Summary

We are looking for a skilled fired equipment engineer who has prior experiance within LNG, petrochemicals, gas processing and renewable engery. This role is responsible for a range of tasks including  planning, coordinating and preparing equipment for fired equipment. Applicants will need to be able to communicate technical issues to supervisors and technical leads to seek solutions as well as being able to review and analyse bids in order to make technical recommendations. Applicants will also need to be familiar with ASME codes and API standards as well as understand engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, and engineering and design calculations.

 

Typical Responsibilities 

  • Performs work using Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
  • Plans, co-ordinates or prepares equipment or work specifications, material requisitions, bid evaluations and award recommendations for fired equipment.
  • Coordinates Engineering efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, and contractors and between other groups.
  • Communicates technical issues to supervisor and/or technical lead and seeks solutions.
  • Reviews/analyses bids and makes technical recommendations.
  • Conducts reviews of vendor drawings, calculations and other documentation.
  • Closes technical actions arising from model reviews, HAZOP reviews, P&ID reviews
  • Assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals.
  • Assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and equipment count for proposals, forecasts and change orders.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Applicant must have BSME/BSChE or equivalent degree.
  • EPC experience 
  • EIT preferred
  • Applicant must have prior experience with the different types of fired/combustion equipment used in the Oil, Gas and Chemicals Industry, such as fired heaters, flares, etc.
  • Must be familiar in thermal design including using industry standard design programs.
  • Working knowledge in FRNC-5 heater simulation program or an equivalent industry standard simulation software is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of combustion calculations, draft loss calculations, and pressure drop calculations for fired equipment is a plus.
  • Applicant should also be able to identify specific industry and technology experience such as LNG (APCI / Conoco Philips / Chart), Refining/Coker, Petrochemical (Cracker, Polyethylene, Polypropylene, PVC, VCM, PTA, PET), Gas Processing, Renewable energy, etc.
  • Must be familiar with ASME codes and API standards.
  • Some knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, plant layout, materials, and computers for preparation of analyses and development of project deliverables within the discipline.
  • Ability to work with direct supervision on day-to-day tasks (issue datasheets, material requisitions, bid evaluations) to meet project goals for cost and schedule.
  • Understands engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, and engineering and design calculations.
