Job Summary:

Reporting to the Manager of Legal Compliance, candidate will support multiple compliance related activities across the organization.  Specific areas of focus will include anti-corruption and economic sanctions due diligence support including access to certain SharePoint databases dedicated to compliance files, training and investigation related activities.

 

Additional support may be required related to antitrust, antiboycott and certain export compliance regulations.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Perform due diligence review of proposed clients, business associates (e.g., joint-venture partners and exclusive subcontractors) and representatives of the corporation to evaluate appropriate ethical standards and corporate policies of proposed clients, associates and representatives to confirm alignment with the Bechtel’s ethical values.
  • Perform research related to ethics and compliance regulations, policies and practices.
  • Update legal databases to reflect completed/approved due diligence reviews.
  • Perform Restricted Party’s List screening of relevant clients, business associates and representatives and monitor any changes in status.
  • Coordinate and track updates of relevant Bechtel policies, procedures, and instructions related to due diligence.
  • Issue guidance and clarification of due diligence requirements to relevant Bechtel legal employees and business development personnel.
  • Evaluate compliance risk areas and communicate same to relevant internal audiences.
  • Work to mitigate ethics and compliance risks and by engaging with appropriate personnel so that policies and procedures are followed.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent)

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have at least previous compliance related experience specific to the due diligence space, some understanding of relevant anti-corruption and economic sanctions legislation in the U.S., U.K. and elsewhere (with the capability to advance in this area with training and guidance) and possess excellent research, organisational skills and the ability to analyse data and information gathered to support due diligence reviews. 
  • Attention to detail is an essential attribute.
  • Must be comfortable navigating various due diligence software tools, e.g., Navex, TradeSphere, World Check, and Interos.
  • Foreign language skills may be a plus but not essential.
