Our Marketing & Business Development team in the UK & Ireland is recruiting for an intern role to support our work growing Bechtel’s infrastructure business.The role will be for a period of 10 weeks and will provide an opportunity for an ambitious intern to get an insight into business development and an understanding of the strategic, commercial and financial considerations that underpin effective winning of work.

Position Summary

This will be a 10 consecutive weeks internship starting in mid-June and running through to the end of August 2024. The Business Development Intern will work within the business development team supporting major initiatives and, in particular, providing support to, and working closely with, the Regional Business Development Manager. Internally, the intern will have the opportunity of supporting key reporting and business development processes and discrete pieces of work to assess markets, opportunities or competitors. 


Typical Responsibilities

  • Assists in special assignments of an analytical or information-gathering nature for M&BD staff, assessing new potential markets or opportunities 
  • Assists in the development of material for proposals or pitches
  • Assists in the preparation and monitoring of business development activity reports, screening reports and business unit pipeline updates
  • Maintains records of prospective projects and competitor information
  • Supports members of the M&BD team as required to deliver the region’s growth targets


Skills and Qualifications

You do not need prior business development experience for this role, but you should have an interest in how to grow business, strategy and commercials and a willingness to learn fast on the job.

 

Ideally you will be studying a construction related degree such as architecture, construction management, commercial management or engineering.

You will need:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to develop key messages and reports
  • Effectiveness in using tools such as PowerPoint and Excel to support communication and analysis
  • Good people skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others
  • Effective skills in research and analysis and a problem-solving mindset
