Position Summary

Bechtel has a long tradition of technical and engineering excellence in supporting the design and construction of some of the most challenging mega projects located all over the world. Project Controls is one of the key functions within Bechtel. The function provides Estimating, Planning and Scheduling, and Cost Engineering services to the rest of the company. 


We are currently recruiting for a Graduate Project Controls Engineer to join our team. The Graduate Project Controls Engineer will be provided with training and opportunities for him or her to further advance their skill sets. The graduate project controls engineer will also periodically rotate between projects and disciplines to gain a broad understanding of the function.  


Potential opportunity to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites. 


Typical Responsibilities


The Graduate Project Controls Engineer will generally be responsible for: 

  • Understanding the fundamental work processes used in Design and Construction
  • Supporting the development of estimates and budgets
  • Supporting the development of plans and schedules 
  • Tracking performance against the budgets and schedules while correlating performance information against the work processes
  • Analysing variances of both direct hire and contract hire work activities
  • Identifying trends where deviations are about to occur unless action is taken 
  • Preparing content for project and construction status reports
  • Identifying potential scope changes. 


Skills and Qualifications


  • Bachelor of Science degree in any discipline within Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, or Business Management from an accredited college or University within twelve (12) months of graduation date 
  • Numerically literate with MS Excel, Project, Word, and PowerPoint expertise to an intermediate level
