Role Overview 

Graduate Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering team as part of our Energy business unit. Working as part of multidiscipline project teams, you will be involved with: 

  • Front end and detailed design, equipment specifications, technology selection, sizing and rating of pressure systems, mechanical process equipment and fluid machinery  

  • Stress analysis of pressure retaining equipment 

  • Thermal analysis, sizing, and rating of heat transfer equipment 

  • Complete procurement cycle of mechanical equipment from requisitioning, technical bid evaluations, vendor selection, vendor management, vendor facility visits to oversee equipment manufacturing and functional testing etc. 

  • Opportunities to get involved in energy transition projects such as Carbon Capture and Sequestration, Blue and Green Hydrogen Production, conversion of fossil fuel-based fluid machinery drives to electric drives etc. 

 

You will be expected to: 

  • Ensure the engineering design provides safety for personnel during construction and operation. 

  • Monitor and communicate progress of assigned tasks within the overall Project schedule. 

  • Ensure Quality of all tasks and deliverables, applying Company procedures and work processes. 

  • Monitor the effectiveness of work processes and strive for continuous improvement. 

  • Anticipate problems and propose solutions to complex engineering issues. 

  • Review vendor and other discipline designs and provide technical input. 

  • Produce technical specifications, reports and drawings. 

  • Provide input to project proposals and estimates. 

  • Understand and apply the appropriate level of definition for front-end and detailed engineering phases. 

  • Provide construction support either from home office or site-based assignment. 

  • Be responsible for your own career progression. 

 

The position offers a foundation for a career as a technical specialist or a manager, and opportunities to travel to project sites. 

 

Desired Qualifications and Experience 

Successful candidates should be on track for a 2:1 or higher Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Motorsport Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or related degree and be legally allowed to work in the UK. Work experience relevant to the area you are applying to, and extra-curricular activities will help your application.
