The Role 


Graduate Engineer to join our Civil, Structural, Architectural, Marine and Offshore engineering team as part of our Energy business unit. Working as part of multidiscipline project teams, you will be involved with a range of activities, with a career path working towards a specialisation based on your preference and skills. You will be working on Conceptual, Front End Engineering design or detailed engineering design on projects designed in UK but being built in locations around the world. Your design responsibilities during your early career phase may include all or some of the below. 


  • Multi discipline communication and familiarisation with discipline responsibilities within applicable types of industrial plants, buildings and infrastructure. 

  • Design of structural steel buildings, pipe racks, equipment structures, on facility bridges, frames, temporary structures. 

  • Reinforced concrete design of buildings, equipment structures, pits and sumps, on facility bridges, paving, trenching, equipment foundations for static and dynamic equipment. 

  • Exposure to geotechnical disciplines studies for soil settlement, soil improvement, slope stability, piling design, hydrology, site specific seismic parameters. 

  • Underground drainage design for large facilities allowing for drainage of clean and contaminated systems, capture of contaminated system flow, control of flow, selection of optimum drainage system, paving layouts. 

  • Earthworks design to minimise total earthworks while ensuring minimum dewatering and risk of flooding, road design, access considerations. 

  • Management of and creation of schedules, tracking workflow, tracking hours used and available for work, handling changes on projects. 

  • Involvement in procurement of discipline deliverables 

  • Involvement with and training / mentorship towards chartership of the institution suiting your specialism (Typically the Institution of Civil Engineers, with whom we have a training scheme, will cover most specialisms) 


You will be expected to: 


  • Ensure the engineering design provides safety for personnel during construction and operation. 

  • Monitor and communicate progress of assigned tasks within the overall Project schedule. 

  • Ensure Quality of all tasks and deliverables, applying Company procedures and work processes. 

  • Monitor the effectiveness of work processes and strive for continuous improvement. 

  • Anticipate problems and propose solutions to complex engineering issues. 

  • Review vendor and other discipline designs and provide technical input. 

  • Produce technical specifications, reports and drawings. 

  • Provide input to project proposals and estimates. 

  • Understand and apply the appropriate level of definition for front-end and detailed engineering phases. 

  • Provide construction support either from home office or site-based assignment. 

  • Be responsible for your own career progression. 


The position offers a foundation for a career as a technical specialist or a manager, and opportunities to travel to project sites. 



Desired Qualifications and Experience 


Successful candidates should be on track for a Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related master's degree, and be legally allowed to work in the UK. Ideally your degree will be accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers. (Check at
