From day one, a Bechtel electrical or telecommunications engineer will be responsible for a range of stimulating and challenging assignments like:

•             Responsible for designing the generation, distribution, control and monitoring system for the power supply network in the plant

•             Responsible for designing the data communication and security systems (including CCTV, Public Address system, Access Control systems and internal data networks)

•             Preparing detailed calculations short circuit calculations, load flow studies, transient analysis, radio coverage calculations, sound pressure levels for announcement system and bandwidth calculations

•             Preparing design philosophies and load calculations

•             Specifying and ordering critical electrical equipment like transformers (as large as 200MVA), motors (40MW), AC/DC uninterruptible power supply units and emergency diesel generators

•             Attend factory acceptance tests for electrical equipment

•             Use specialized software programs like ETAP (system study software) and SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL)

•             Working with engineers from other disciplines to design and construct the installation

•             Working in tandem with Bechtel offices worldwide (such as New Delhi and Houston)

Our Engineering Graduate Development Programme is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and is designed to help you become Chartered as early as possible. It will give you firsthand experience across all the business processes from engineering design, procurement, construction and commissioning. It is also designed to span the gap between the theoretical knowledge from university and the applied engineering skills required to execute major construction projects.

You have to be able to grasp the essentials of any situation quickly, think on your feet, come up with workable ideas, and then communicate them clearly and persuasively.

JOB QUALIFICATION:

•             Successful candidates should be on track for a relevant 2:1 honours degree (or overseas equivalent), and be legally allowed to work in the UK/EU.

•             Work experience relevant to the area you are applying to and extra-curricular activities will assist in your application.
