Project Overview:

Coroccohuayco:

Located in the Espinar region of Cusco, Coroccohuayco is part of the extension plan for the operations of the current Antapaccay mine, one of the most important copper deposits in the country. The project consists of the development of the engineering and construction of the mine facilities around the new Coroccohuayco open pit that include a primary crusher, a conveyor belt and the expansion of the Antapaccay and Tintaya concentrator plants, each of which includes the incorporation of a new ball mill, flotation cells, remilling mills, concentrate filters and energy transmission and distribution systems.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for providing specialization and experience in field engineering, work planning and packaging, construction engineering, materials management, verification and validation of quantities, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, in addition to the coordination of subcontracts and with other functional areas. Their recommendations will ensure that the field engineering activities operate safely, are complete and conform to the quality standards and requirements of the project.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Preparing construction plans and sketches.
  • Preparing scopes of work, lists of items and technical documentation necessary for the preparation of the technical tender bases for direct and indirect works contracts.
  • Supporting the process of clearing bidder inquiries and the technical evaluations of the proposals to be received as part of the bidding processes for these contracts.
  • Facilitating the planning of constructive methods and procedures.
  • Initiating requisitions for field purchases.
  • Verifying products in quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
  • Ensuring that the zero incident philosophy and requirements are implemented and respected when in the work areas under their area of influence, and that tools and equipment are in a safe condition and operated safely.
  • Proactively consider continuous learning or show interest in undertaking appropriate learning activities.
  • Developing a firm understanding of the scope, project structure and planning priorities for the development of work packages.
  • Reviewing and approving inspection test plans.
  • Coordinating reviews of subcontractor submissions.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires an engineering degree related to the position, and 8-10 years of relevant experience in large-scale mining projects.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in construction of large-scale mining projects.
  • Strong knowledge of the standards and procedures of their specialty.
  • Knowledge and experience in the implementation of management systems in environment, safety, health and quality.
  • Communication skills and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive and stimulating work environment among the project work teams, including the client, subcontractors and others involved throughout the project life cycle.
  • Self-motivation to work independently and exercise professional judgment with the vocation to assume responsibility for the commissioned works, as well as technical leadership to direct subcontractors and other team members.
  • Aptitude to work in a camp in the Cusco region at 4,000 meters above sea level under an atypical regime.
