Mining and Metals:

Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. Job Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for implementing the Industrial Relations strategy, supervising compliance with the WS (Workforce Services) - Industrial Relations guidelines, avoiding legal contingencies in general and possible joint and several liabilities. Report and receive operational and functional guidance from the Labor Relations Leader and/or the WS Manager of the Project. Provide training to the representatives of the contractors and subcontractors of the offices and project. Review and supervise contractors specialized in issues related to labor management.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting and administering union contracts, enforcing labor standards, setting staffing requirements, and participating in labor contract negotiations.
  • Collaborating with the representatives of the subcontractors performing work on the construction project to ensure the correct interpretation of labor contracts and uniform compliance with labor standards.
  • Deciding on the preventive and/or corrective measures necessary to minimize labor problems that may cause work stoppages and delays in the construction schedule.
  • Conducting and/or providing guidance for the conduct of informal and formal grievance hearings, in accordance with applicable union contractual procedures.
  • Collaborating with local and regional union representatives to maintain cooperative relationships between workers and management on assigned construction projects.
  • Managing labor relations activities in small and medium-sized projects, including the resolution of work stoppages.
  • Representing the company before the administrative authority in labor matters. Preparing and attending subpoenas and hearings, protecting the interests of the company.
  • Representing the project in LR/IR/WFS activities, including employee investigations, reprimands, dismissals, communications and training/coaching.
  • Leading labor relations investigations of moderate complexity and resolve labor disputes. Leading investigations into misconduct of employees of the trade or other ER matters, and to decide or approve appropriate disciplinary or corrective actions in accordance with the labor standards.
  • Responsible for implementing craft process improvement programs on the jobsite.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a professional degree in Law, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or related careers, with complementary training in Labor Law, Human Resources, Labor Relations and a minimum of 10 - 13 years of relevant experience in similar positions (including supervision), preferably in large-scale, high-value and complex EPC/EPCM projects, or related to the construction industry, and in the areas of labor audits, attention to inspections of the Ministry of Labor or SUNAFIL
  • Experience in developing plans and implementing processes and procedures.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of the current labor legal regulations of the general labor regime and the special regime of civil construction, as well as the labor regulations of Safety and Health at Work and Labor Supervision.
  • Knowledge of the collective agreements signed by the civil construction sector.
  • Intermediate level of spoken and written English (preferable).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of personal integrity.
  • Availability to work in shifts at the remote headquarters.
