Project Overview:
Coroccohuayco:
Located in the Espinar region of Cusco, Coroccohuayco is part of the extension plan for the operations of the current Antapaccay mine, one of the most important copper deposits in the country. The project consists of the development of the engineering and construction of the mine facilities around the new Coroccohuayco open pit that include a primary crusher, a conveyor belt and the expansion of the Antapaccay and Tintaya concentrator plants, each of which includes the incorporation of a new ball mill, flotation cells, remilling mills, concentrate filters and energy transmission and distribution systems.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will conduct field investigations and plan specifications for hydrology & hydraulic design for large projects. You will lead flood analysis, special studies, and interpret regulations. You will participate in new business efforts, interview clients, develop estimates, and participate in proposal preparation. Your technical expertise will contribute to project flood risk prevention and mitigation.
Major Responsibilities:
- Assisting in preparing hydraulic / hydrologic calculations, conceptual designs, studies and reports, mainly for mining projects in aspects specific to the specialty such as: hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, flood risk and impact assessments, flood protection and mitigation, river training and diversion, riverine erosion and scour protection design, stormwater management and drainage design, sediment control design, pipelines hydraulic calculations and associated permitting applications produced for the project for both permanent and temporary facilities as required.
- Providing oversight of value engineering, constructability reviews, safety reviews, and O&M reviews.
- Coordinating civil or structural engineering designs with hydrology and hydraulic assessments.
- Conducting review of hydrology and hydraulic interpretative reports and works with geotechnical consultants to produce high quality co-coordinated submissions.
- Developing plans and schedules and conducting and coordinating each phase of hydrologic and hydraulics design development for motorway, local roads, and interchanges and grading.
- Overseing outside hydrology and hydraulic consultants hired by Bechtel or the client to perform these tasks.
- Providing input to reports and may provide technical assistance to other hydrology and hydraulic personnel.
- Providing assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project requirements related to addressing issues as they arise during project execution.
- Ensuring the coordination of Hydrology and Hydraulic engineering work with civil and structural, geotechnical engineering, and other engineering disciplines to deliver well-integrated, efficient and safe designs.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires a Civil Engineering or Civil Industrial Engineering degree with major / specialization in Hydraulic/Hydrologic Engineering, and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
- Preferred if also holds a MSc or PhD degree in same specialty.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Possesses programming skills in R, Python, Matlab, Visual Basic, and/or similar computer language.
- Possesses basic experience in using specialty computer programs such as: HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, Global Mapper, FluidFlow, AFT software or similar.
- Able to fluently communicate in English and in Spanish, both verbally and written communication (high proficiency).
- Good verbal and writing skills to communicate with team in preparation of reports, calculations and other documentation.
- Willingness and ability to travel to and remain at jobsites on generally short-term assignments (up to several weeks at a time).
- Assist-experienced team members skill.
