Job Summary:
In this role, you will participate in the design, development, and evaluation of electrical components and processes. You will collaborate and support other engineering disciplines for electrical engineering matters. Your professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard electrical engineering techniques and criteria will enable you to make impactful contributions to the team. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure uniquely complex requirements of a project’s electrical engineering aspects are met.
Major Responsibilities:
Level 1
- Evaluating, selecting, and applying standard electrical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
- Participating in the design, development and modification of components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
- Coordinating work and collaborating with other engineering disciplines.
- Coordinating electrical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups.
- Preparing conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals.
- Providing technical assistance to other electrical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.
- Providing assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project electrical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution.
Level 2
- Designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
- Preparing or assisting in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals. When delegated, providing guidance to other electrical engineering personnel for specific tasks or projects.
- Mentoring and assisting more junior electrical team members.
- Completing electrical documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
- Selecting components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Level 1
- Requires bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with professional license from the CIP (Colegio de Ingenieros del Perú), and 5-8 years of relevant experience in mining projects or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Level 2
- Requires bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with professional license from the CIP (Colegio de Ingenieros del Perú), and 8-10 years of relevant experience in mining projects or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience in process plants and mining project facilities
- Experience in preparing electrical equipment documentation: specifications, data sheets, equipment sizing calculation reports, material requisitions. Technical evaluations of major equipment and electrical materials.
- Experience in preparing MTO (Material Take-Off) lists.
- Experience in studies of power electrical systems for large copper mining projects using ETAP software.
- Experience in the elaboration of reports of different electrical studies: - Load Flow- Short Circuit- Motor Starting- Arc Flash- Grounding- Relay Protection Coordination
- Good knowledge of major industry or regulatory standards and particularly in Peruvian Standards.
- Intermediate English level (desirable).
