Project Overview:
The Coroccohuayco Project is a mining development initiative leading by Compañía Minera Antapaccay S.A. (CMA), part of the GLENCORE Copper group. It is located in the district and province of Espinar, in the department of Cusco, Peru, approximately 710 km southeast of Lima and 180 km south of the city of Cusco. The nearest town is Espinar, situated 25 km from the project area. The project is at an approximate altitude of 4150 m.a.s.l.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will be part of the Control Systems engineering group, leading the design of specific aspects of the project engineering, preparing system specifications, providing input to designers, responsible of material requisitions, conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for control systems & instrumentation aspects. Your recommendations will solve technical issues and ensure unique and complex requirements of the project’s. As a senior specialist you will also provide support to the group supervisor to schedule and review the discipline work, your leadership will drive high quality work plans.
Major Responsibilities:
- Evaluating, selecting, and applying standard Control Systems engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria for a small size project or assignment in support of a global business unit or staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications.
- Designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs). Preparing conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals
- Coordinating Control Systems engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups.
- When delegated, providing guidance to other Control Systems engineering personnel for specific tasks or projects.
- Providing technical assistance to other Control Systems personnel and interacting with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues.
- Providing assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Control Systems requirements and in addressing issues, as they arise during project execution.
- Mentoring and assisting more junior Control Systems team members. Completing Control Systems documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. Selecting components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
- Reviewing and developing block diagrams or system architecture for Plant Control Systems. Preparing design documents related to the Control System such as Input/Output (I/O) list, remote I/O segments design, review design of PLC integration to PCS, understand Foundation Fieldbus instrumentation design constraints.
- Reviewing and developing system architecture for communication systems related to discipline such as OT networks, IT networks, CCTV, Access Control, among others. Reviewing and developing fiber optic infrastructure diagrams, including development of service definition tables, power loss calculation and interconnection diagrams, also review and developing Digital Logic Diagrams and Functional Block Diagrams.
- Reviewing Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) developed by Process discipline. Definition of instrumentation in conjunction with process and mechanical requirements. Developing specifications for instrumentation and control valves, and generation of their data sheets and material requisitions.
- Designing and reviewing control cabinet layouts. Participation and lead of control systems FAT, CAT and interoperability tests
- Reviewing and approval of vendor engineering documentation. Reviewing and development control room layouts, with consideration of human factors
- Demonstrating leadership qualities with emphasis on continuous improvement and team building, and interpersonal communication skills. Providing technical assistance to more junior engineers/designers/drafters.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Expertise in Control Systems architecture design related to Mining and Metals industry.
- Expertise in OT (Operational Technology) networks and Cyber Security applied to Mining and Metals industry.
- Knowledge of Ethernet Network design.
- Expertise with instrumentation selection for Mining and Metals applications.
- Expertise with design related to fieldbuses such as Profibus-DP, Foundation Fieldbus.
- Expertise with communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet.
- Clear communication skills and collaborative attitude.
- Accountable and problem solver.
- Mentoring and coaching other engineers and designers.
- Knowledge, user level, of VISIO, CAD tools.
- Knowledge, user level, of Smart Instrumentation.
