Project Overview:

Coroccohuayco:

Located in the Espinar region of Cusco, Coroccohuayco is part of the extension plan for the operations of the current Antapaccay mine, one of the most important copper deposits in the country. The project consists of the development of the engineering and construction of the mine facilities around the new Coroccohuayco open pit that include a primary crusher, a conveyor belt and the expansion of the Antapaccay and Tintaya concentrator plants, each of which includes the incorporation of a new ball mill, flotation cells, remilling mills, concentrate filters and energy transmission and distribution systems.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will participate in subcontract formation and/or administration. Subcontract formation includes leading preparation and review of bid request packages and developing project contracts operating procedures. Subcontract administration includes continual progress review, forecasting, and communication of difficulties. Your work will ensure subcontract compliance with project requirements.

Major Responsibilities:

Subcontract Management

  • Implementing the Supply Chain Assignment Schedule, ensuring alignment with project subcontract management responsibilities and applicable Standard Work Process Procedures.
  • Administering assigned subcontracts, maintaining continuous oversight of performance, progress, and compliance, and proactively advising management of potential financial, commercial, or technical risks.
  • Interfacing project stakeholders to address operational activities impacting contractual rights, obligations, and subcontractor performance.
  • Ensuring effective subcontract execution, including monitoring deliverables, milestones, and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Leading the administration of moderately complex contract changes, including evaluation, negotiation with subcontractors, and timely resolution in alignment with project objectives.
  • Supporting dispute avoidance and resolution through early identification of issues and structured communication with internal and external parties.
  • Generating reports or leads the effort, if assigned by Supervisor using company management tools.
  • Supervising and guiding less experienced professionals, as coordinated with Supervisor, ensuring compliance with project procedures and corporate governance requirements.

 

Subcontract Formation

  • Contributing to subcontract formation strategy and ensures compliance with project procedures and corporate governance requirements.
  • Leading and supporting negotiations for subcontracts within delegated authority, ensuring commercial and contractual alignment.
  • Preparing and issuing subcontracts and service agreements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project requirements.
  • Developing bidders’ lists and performs commercial prequalification of suppliers in coordination with project stakeholders.
  • Preparing and issuing bid request packages, ensuring clear scope definition, commercial terms, and evaluation criteria.
  • Coordinating bidder clarifications and managing the communication of responses to ensure a fair and transparent bidding process.
  • Evaluating bids from a commercial perspective and preparing Commercial Bid Evaluations, including analysis and recommendations.
  • Recommending award decisions and secures approvals in accordance with established procedures and delegation of authority.
  • Preparing subcontract documentation for execution, ensuring alignment between negotiated terms and final contract documents.
  • Planning and coordinating key subcontracting meetings (pre-bid, bid clarification, pre-award), ensuring alignment among Bechtel, the customer, and suppliers.
  • Facilitating meetings (as appropriate) and preparing clear, structured minutes capturing key decisions, actions, and commitments.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10  years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Operate independently within the Contracts discipline in alignment with Supervisor and Contracts strategy.
  • Excellent communication, management and teamwork skills.
  • Drafting and negotiation of contracts, changes.
  • Be able to prepare, review, and negotiate contract terms.
  • Knowledge of legal structures, commercial terms, and financial considerations in acquisitions and contracts.
  • Understanding of contract types (EPC, services, rentals, materials) and when each applies.
  • Detail orientation.
  • Support project leadership on contractual risk, change, and claims.
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of digital management tools (Oracle-DSCS, Primavera-Unifier) and others.
  • Knowledge of risk and insurance provisions, claims preparation and resolution strategies, in coordination with the legal and claims teams.
  • Prepares periodic reports for management.
