Project Overview:
We are looking for top talent to join the expanding Bechtel Renewables & Clean Power business line to deliver the latest in our long-term portfolio of natural gas fired combined cycle power projects. This project is a nominal 640MW single unit that will provide consistent electrical power to the regional grid. Bechtel is currently supporting our customer to define the scope and design basis for the project which will utilize advanced gas turbine technology to deliver reliable and responsive electric power generation. The position will initially be based in the Reston, VA office to support preconstruction and project planning activities, followed by a long-term field assignment at the project site in Sullivan County, Indiana upon mobilization.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead a team of planners and work with the project team to prepare schedule data for contract negotiations and project execution. The Lead Planner is responsible for schedule development, maintenance, forecasting and monitoring activities. You will be instrumental in ensuring projects stay on track and on time. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, you will also have regular interfaces with senior internal and customer stakeholders. #LI-ML1
Major Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the development, maintenance, and forecasting of the project schedule
- Establishes and maintains the schedule for specific discipline areas or specialties
- Performs schedule development duties to include establishing the work breakdown structure (WBS), determining the work activity duration, establishing the proper workflow logic ties, and developing the required job expenditure
- Performs schedule monitoring, including identifying critical activities and updating functions for specific applications, disciplines, or specialties
- Develops critical path schedule reports and schedule performance metrics
- Determines critical-path activities for assigned discipline or specialty work activities supporting interdisciplinary requirements
- Identifies and reports activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule
- Monitors and validates subcontractor schedules
- Evaluates subcontractor schedules for required workarounds or potential schedule improvements
- Develop schedule recovery plans, as required
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in engineering, construction management, business or related field and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
- 3+ years of supervisory experience and demonstrated skills in applying team building leadership
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes, as performed by Bechtel
- Skilled in oral and written communication with demonstrated skill to present information to management and clients
- Advanced in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office 365 software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to take initiative in project related tasks and coordination with various stakeholders
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload to ensure effective project delivery
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team atmosphere
- Demonstrated understanding of project controls core processes and procedures including, cost control, planning, risk analysis, estimating, trend reporting and information management
- Experience delivering large-scale EPC projects
- Experience of leading, managing and organizing teams
