Project Overview:
Louisiana LNG is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid-scale, mixed-refrigerant Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River. There are five identical process plants. Each process plant consists of one gas pre-treatment unit, one condensate stabilization unit, and four Chart heavy hydrocarbon (HHC) removal and liquefaction groups. The facility will include associated utilities, refrigerant storage, three 235,000m3 full-containment LNG storage tanks, and three marine berths.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead, implement, and maintain global construction field welding programs and provide specialized welding engineering support. You will manage, inspect, and monitor the welding test lab, the rod room, the weld heat treatment program, and the laboratory quality plan. Your technical advice will help ensure defects, behaviors, and other issues are rectified prior to final inspection. #LI-BH1
Major Responsibilities:
- Implements and maintains Bechtel Field Welding program, may also be assigned as Lead Field Welding Engineer on large projects
- Provides specialized welding engineering support for construction to ensure construction meets all code, client/engineering specifications and Bechtel procedures and standards.
- Assists in the management of the pre- and post-weld heat treatment program.
- Assists in the management of the rod room and rod room attendant to ensure all weld filler materials are controlled so to meet Bechtel, Code, and Client requirements.
- Schedules and coordinates NDE with construction and subcontractors for the most efficient NDE schedule at the least cost and least impact to construction.
- Manages and monitors the welding test lab to ensure high quality welders are being tested and hired.
- Works with the team to review and keep up to date with weld documents and ensures the credibility/accountability of the Welding Program.
- Manages issues and maintains welder qualifications and welder stamps.
- Performs field inspections of welding work, and advises on rectification of quality behaviors and defects prior to final inspection
- May be responsible for the implementation and leads the subcontractors and direct hire Pre/PWHT program.
- Additional Requirements for Post Weld Heat Treatment Coordinator
- Coordinates work activities of subcontractor and direct hire pre/ PWHT personnel.
- Possesses working knowledge of Bechtel's corporate pre/PWHT procedure (PHT-2) and other welding procedures / standards.
- Supports the crafts in meeting cost and schedules.
- Performs verification materials, workmanship, and specification/code requirements.
- Interface with the lead welding engineer for direction of work task assigned.
- Perform inspections and documentation of all pre/PWHT activities in progress on a continuing basis.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Associates degree in engineering/science study from a 2-year technical college or university preferred plus 10 years’ experience or 15 years’ combined industry experience with NDE methods, writing procedures, and providing training
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Maintains and implements Bechtel’s Nondestructive Examination Qualification and Certification of NDE personnel (NEPQ).
- Implements Bechtel’s Welding Program in relation to requirements of the various GBUs.
- Prepares develops and qualifies NDE procedures, which also includes specialized NDE procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Corporate Level III and/or the Manager of Welding & NDE Services.
- Implements NDE procedures and techniques, develops and implements NDE training and certification programs
- Provides technical services and consultations to various types of design and construction projects
Additional Requirements for NDE Level III
