Project Overview:

Louisiana LNG is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid-scale, mixed-refrigerant Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River. There are five identical process plants. Each process plant consists of one gas pre-treatment unit, one condensate stabilization unit, and four Chart heavy hydrocarbon (HHC) removal and liquefaction groups. The facility will include associated utilities, refrigerant storage, three 235,000m3 full-containment LNG storage tanks, and three marine berths.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s control systems aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of control systems components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure unique and complex requirements of a project’s control systems aspects are met.  #LI-ML1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical assistance to other Control Systems personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues.
  • Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Control Systems requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution.
  • Assisting the construction team in developing design changes to resolve field problems.
  • Resident Engineers will be able to provide firsthand assistance in finding problem solutions.
  • Resident Engineers approve Field Change Documents (FCDs) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), obtaining Client approvals as necessary.
  • Provide clarification on Engineering drawings and specifications, answering Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to subcontractors who are performing design during the Construction phase of the subcontract, including document review agreed with the home office.
  • Assurance that FCDs do not conflict with the intent of the design.
  • Provide field engineering support for instrumentation and control systems during construction, commissioning, and start-up phases.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Honeywell Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS).
  • Review and update design deliverables to reflect field changes and as-built conditions.
  • Support loop checking, functional testing, and commissioning of instrumentation systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project specifications and timelines are met.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in all field activities.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10  years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Requires proficiency in Honeywell ICSS configuration and troubleshooting of PCS, ESD and FGS system.
  • Requires proficiency in Honeywell ICSS Reuse library configuration.
  • Requires experience during Site Acceptance Testing.
  • Managing a team of engineers from 3rd party package suppliers, ICSS vendor at site.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of the project Control Systems discipline deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of engineering work planning and control methods.
  • Familiarity with construction practices, regulatory codes, and Bechtel standards.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and field inspection protocols.
  • Ability to conduct field walks and inspections under varying site conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders/scaffolding and working in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to wear and use appropriate PPE for assigned tasks.

Additional Information: Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
