Project Overview:
Louisiana LNG is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid-scale, mixed-refrigerant Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River. There are five identical process plants. Each process plant consists of one gas pre-treatment unit, one condensate stabilization unit, and four Chart heavy hydrocarbon (HHC) removal and liquefaction groups. The facility will include associated utilities, refrigerant storage, three 235,000m3 full-containment LNG storage tanks, and three marine berths.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s electrical engineering aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of electrical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure uniquely complex requirements of a project’s electrical engineering aspects are met.#LI-ML1
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide on‑site electrical and control systems design support for LNG facilities, including substations, E‑houses, control rooms, MCCs, and process unit interfaces.
- Interpret and apply IFC electrical, control, and I&C drawings to resolve field installation issues related to cable routing, raceways, panels, control cabinets, and E‑house layouts.
- Perform field walkdowns and constructability reviews, identifying discrepancies between design and site conditions and proposing practical design solutions.
- Develop and mark up electrical and control system drawing revisions, redlines, and field design changes for incorporation into as‑built documentation.
- Coordinate closely with construction, resident engineers, and control systems engineers to resolve interface issues between electrical power, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Support RFIs, NCRs, and field change documentation related to electrical and control systems scope, providing design‑level technical input.
- Interface with control system vendors and electrical equipment suppliers to support installation, layout verification, and resolution of site‑specific issues.
- Maintain configuration control and quality compliance while supporting LNG construction sequencing, energization readiness, and turnover milestones.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical and/or control systems design, with significant LNG, oil & gas, or large industrial project exposure.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated experience supporting construction‑site (resident) engineering, including field walkdowns, redlines, RFIs, NCRs, and as‑built documentation.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical and control system design drawings, including power distribution, control room layouts, E‑houses, MCCs, control panels, and raceway systems.
- Proven ability to coordinate electrical and control system interfaces with instrumentation, process control, mechanical, and CSA disciplines in an LNG environment.
- Experience working with control system and electrical equipment vendors, supporting installation layouts, cabinet locations, and field issue resolution.
- Familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications (NEC, IEC, IEEE, hazardous area requirements typical of LNG facilities).
- Proficiency in design and drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SmartPlant / 3D models, document control systems) and strong ability to produce clear field markups and design clarifications.
Additional Information: Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
