Project Overview:

Driftwood LNG LLC is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid-scale, mixed-refrigerant Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River. There are five identical process plants. Each process plant consists of one gas pre-treatment unit, one condensate stabilization unit, and four Chart heavy hydrocarbon (HHC) removal and liquefaction groups. The facility will include associated utilities, refrigerant storage, three 235,000m3 full-containment LNG storage tanks, and three marine berths.

 

Job Summary:

Provides work process and systems expertise, advice, and direction for materials management planning activities at the Jobsite. Works directly with the inventory control team for all materials related activities and troubleshooting. Responsible for clear communication and escalation of gaps to ensure site material issuance success. #LI-CS1

 

A. Supervision Received

  • Reports to and receives operational direction from the Project Field Procurement Manager or designee.
  • Receives functional guidance from the global business unit Manager of Materials Management

B. Contacts

  • Maintains direct working relationships with the Customer, Discipline Engineers, Construction Coordinator, Project Controls, Procurement, vendors, fabricators, and contractors, to ensure mutual understanding, development, and attainment of objectives, plans, and requirements for materials management of the project.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Monitors the inbound material receiving processes to ensure that data for material is properly reflected in the warehouse system.
  • Reviews and observes both Safety and Quality daily to ensure field material handling work is performed safely with the final delivery of quality finished goods as a top priority.
  • Monitors, reviews, and reports out the status of inbound bulk materials to ensure an accurate inventory is maintained.
  • Ensures material transactions at the field location are completed to ensure updated information is maintained in downstream applications.  
  • Utilizes the materials components of the project Automation Plan (used by functional groups) to monitor related data transfers between the functional groups.
  • Participates in both three week look ahead and 90 day material planning reviews to ensure material is available ahead of the required dates.
  • Collaborates with both Field and Home Office Material Coordinators to establish priorities and highlight where delivery is not meeting schedule.
  • Determines solutions for identified gaps with other Bechtel functions and the Field Procurement team.
  • Manages change accordingly and ensures data is up to date and populated with the latest revisions.
  • Works closely with Engineering to identify and resolve drawing and design issues.
  • Quickly identifies shortage and surplus items and quickly involves required team members to resolve issues.
  • Reviews milestone status reports for adherence to schedule for critical path materials. Suggests alternative materials approaches when it appears critical path material deliveries will not meet schedule.
  • Participates in Construction and Laydown area walk downs to see the progress of work and help resolve material issues with the teams as they are discovered.
  • Managers a team of Material Coordinators and is responsible for coaching, feedback, and the overall success of the team.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of Field Materials Management work processes and systems expertise.
  • Advanced knowledge of project Procurement operations related to the acquisition of materials on projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of Engineering disciplines, the work process and the deliverables produced.
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP Systems including drawing takeoff input, Material Allocation Planner, Expediting Tracking Application, input of requisitions, and goods and services codes.
  • Advanced knowledge of related Engineering, Project Controls, and Construction Standard Applications Programs, and their modes of data interfacing within the ERP systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of vendor, fabricator, contractor, Customer and other outside data systems and how those systems interact with ERP systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of work packaging, pre-buy methodology, and materials status reporting.
  • Advanced skills in working with and communicating effectively with supervisors of other project functional groups, primarily Field Engineering, Construction, and Project Controls.
  • Advanced knowledge of laydown and warehouse operations and standard material handling processes.
