Project Overview:
Louisiana LNG is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid-scale, mixed-refrigerant Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River. There are five identical process plants. Each process plant consists of one gas pre-treatment unit, one condensate stabilization unit, and four Chart heavy hydrocarbon (HHC) removal and liquefaction groups. The facility will include associated utilities, refrigerant storage, three 235,000m3 full-containment LNG storage tanks, and three marine berths.
Job Summary:
This position will report to Project Field Engineer . In this role, you will supervise a team of direct reports and will be responsible for overall quality of painting, insulation, and fireproofing. This position will also interface with other discipline field engineers, superintendents, subcontractors, and planners to develop project schedules for painting, insulation, and fireproofing. You will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-BH1
Major Responsibilities:
- Establish insulation, paint, and fireproofing application philosophy.
- Track and report daily quantities installed.
- Review subcontractor insulation and fireproofing procedures for compliance with project specifications.
- Review and approve permanent plant materials bought for painting, fireproofing, and insulation.
- Coordinate paint, insulation, and fireproofing releases.
- Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans and verify the completeness of quality documentation on daily basis.
- Maintain all the calibration records for the instruments used for painting and coating.
- Create and issue work packages.
- Provide technical assistance to superintendents, subcontractors, foremen, and craft workers.
- Perform inspections and documentation of all insulation, painting, coating, and fireproofing work in progress on a continuing basis, and ensures documentation is complete prior to turnover.
- Assist supervision and project controls in preparation of 3-week lookahead schedules.
- Review subcontractor quantity estimates from design drawings and provide input to the quantity tracking applications and reports weekly verified installed quantities to Project Controls.
Issue material withdrawal requests for permanent materials. - Assist field procurement in inspection and receipt of received materials.
- Resolve design clashes and any other constructability or technical issues.
- Verify accuracy of data from subcontractors and suppliers.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Typically requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
- Experience in oil, gas, refinery, petrochemical, minerals processing or power generating station construction is preferred.
- NACE CIP Level 2 or higher is preferred.
- Must demonstrate expert understanding of industry codes and standards applicable to industrial coatings, insulation and fireproofing.
- Experience in LNG cryogenic insulation is preferred.
- Experience managing technical services subcontracts is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams.
- Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
- Knowledgeable in the use of Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAP's) including TEAMWorks.
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards is required.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
- Has or is able to obtain a TWIC card.
Additional Information:
Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
