Project Overview:

Louisiana LNG is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid-scale, mixed-refrigerant Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River. There are five identical process plants. Each process plant consists of one gas pre-treatment unit, one condensate stabilization unit, and four Chart heavy hydrocarbon (HHC) removal and liquefaction groups. The facility will include associated utilities, refrigerant storage, three 235,000m3 full-containment LNG storage tanks, and three marine berths.

 

Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for the supervision of material management activities for the lay down areas for the Louisiana LNG Project. It will develop and direct the implementation of overall project material management plans to include project material procedures, facility needs, personnel requirements, inventory stock levels, detailed material management systems (manual or automated) and overall project material security plan. The Laydown Supervisor will also conduct orientation, training, and performance evaluation of project material management personnel. #LI-CS1

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Supervises material management operations of personnel to ensure conformance to corporate, global business unit and project policies and procedures in all disciplines and functional areas for which material management is responsible including the receipt, inspection, storage, inventory control (manual and/or automated), physical security and issue of materials and equipment 
  • Identifies the need and completing the action for all UOS&D material and equipment received at project temporary operating and jobsite locations 
  • Initiates actions to identify and dispose of material and equipment declared excess to project needs by project management 
  • Recommends long-range personnel requirements and assists Project Field Procurement Manager in coordinating the timely staffing of required positions 
  • Prepares recommendations for facilities and equipment necessary to provide for professional material management operations at project temporary and jobsite locations, as specifically directed by the Project Inventory Control Manager. This activity begins as early as practical in the planning stages and continues throughout the project 
  • Directs the preparation of procedures and instructions establishing material management responsibilities and methods of operations pertaining to material management activities at project temporary operating and jobsite locations to include but is not limited to project procedures, which must be compliant with the approved Integrated Work Process Procedure Integrated Work Process Procedure with approved variations if required 
  • Continually reviews performance at the temporary operating and jobsite locations to validate personnel staffing requirements and determine that performance conforms to standards as reflected in project Procurement procedures and jobsite instructions 
  • Assists Project Inventory Control Manager in establishing and monitoring a continuing program to dispose of surplus materials and equipment as it is identified as excess to project needs by project management.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9 -12 years of relevant work experience

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in handling bulk commodities and identifying safety concerns relating to material handling and storage.   
  • Knowledge of the essential elements of a field materials management organization.    
  • An understanding of how automated materials management systems keep control of project materials.    
  • Good organizational and planning skills.    
  • Knowledge of materials management principals relating to construction projects, such as planning, work packaging, just-in-time deliveries, issue on receipt, and jurisdiction for delivered goods.    
  • Knowledge of materials management procedures.    
  • Excellent supervisory and leadership skills.

 

Additional Information: Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
