Project Overview:

Louisiana LNG is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid-scale, mixed-refrigerant Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River. There are five identical process plants. Each process plant consists of one gas pre-treatment unit, one condensate stabilization unit, and four Chart heavy hydrocarbon (HHC) removal and liquefaction groups. The facility will include associated utilities, refrigerant storage, three 235,000m3 full-containment LNG storage tanks, and three marine berths.

Job Summary:

As a Project Human Resources Representative for Louisiana LNG Project, you will play a pivotal role in the success of our project by performing a variety of HR support activities throughout the project lifecycle. You will contribute to fostering a positive work culture and optimize talent utilization. Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage employment-related investigations, end-to-end, including conducting intake meetings, background research, investigative interviews, report-writing, corrective actions, and debrief meetings.
  • Coach and advise all levels of management through employee relations matters (e.g., interpersonal conflicts, communication of employment decisions, advice on policy application, performance management, mental health concerns, workforce reductions, etc.).
  • Support the mediation and resolution of conflicts within project teams, promote constructive dialogue, and find amicable solutions to ensure project continuity.
  • Facilitate training sessions or workshops to enhance team capabilities to contribute to a high-performing work environment and foster team synergy.
  • Coordinate career development plans for our colleagues. Assist managers and supervisors with conducting regular performance discussions.
  • Provide guidance to supervisors and managers on 360, UFM (upper feedback meetings),  and interpretation related to human resources and promoting a culture of talent development.
  • Facilitate seamless onboarding and orientation experiences for new team members, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary resources and information to excel in their roles from day one.
  • Support the immigration process for candidates mobilizing to our project.
  • Provide support to employees and their families relocating nationally and internationally to our project and contribute to a smooth integration process as they transition to our project. Provide logistical support with various relocation elements including work visas.
  • Design and implement employee engagement initiatives to maintain a positive work culture and boost team morale. Foster open communication and be a trusted resource where employees can go to address their concerns.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Analyze various aspects of the employment cycle (hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations), design applicable reporting systems, recommend methods to reduce turnover, and to increase organizational effectiveness.
  • Create and maintain both ad hoc and existing reports in PowerBI and TalentWorks.
  • Provide guidance and interpretation while ensuring adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements related to human resources and promoting a culture of compliance and fairness.
  • Support the recruiting cycle time by creating a partnership with hiring managers and recruiters to streamline our resource staffing process.
  • Ensure staffing tools are continuously up to date to proactively forecast staffing requirements.
  • Perform other duties and initiatives as assigned by the Project HR Lead/Manager.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Formal training and/or certification in investigations preferred.
  • Proven track record of conducting workplace investigations that will withstand legal scrutiny.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and influence team members effectively and positively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve while managing multiple projects and competing priorities in high pressure situations.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel’s organizational structure, Human Resources policies, procedures, and tools (Smart Staff, TalentWorks, SAP).
  • Knowledge of legal requirements impacting Human Resources administration.
  • Experience in several Human Resources disciplines (Learning & Development, Benefits, Compensation, Employment, Immigration, Records, etc.).
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and outlining action to be performed.
  • Skill in the oral presentation and written reports.

Preferred Knowledge

  • Intermediate/Advanced working knowledge of Excel.
  • Field experience in a Project HR role.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of PowerBI.

Additional Information: Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
