Project Overview:
Louisiana LNG is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid-scale, mixed-refrigerant Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River. There are five identical process plants. Each process plant consists of one gas pre-treatment unit, one condensate stabilization unit, and four Chart heavy hydrocarbon (HHC) removal and liquefaction groups. The facility will include associated utilities, refrigerant storage, three 235,000m3 full-containment LNG storage tanks, and three marine berths.
Job Summary:
The Field Engineer - Instrumentation will report to the Area Field Engineer and is responsible for supervising the sitewide earthworks instrumentation program and will be responsible for the overall data collection and management of that program. This individual is responsible for providing technical assistance, direction, and support to Bechtel and subcontractor field supervision teams for construction and installation activities for all disciplines associated with the instrumentation equipment and materials. In addition, you will provide project field engineering support with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover for your dedicated scope, in addition to other responsibilities assigned to you by your manager. Your work will contribute to ensuring field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
Major Responsibilities:
Work Planning & Packaging
- Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
- Interfaces in planning construction methods and procedures.
Material Management
- Initiates requisitions for field purchases
- Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
Quantities
- Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
Safety / Quality Control
- Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Technical
- Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities
System Turnover Coordinator
For Direct Hire
- Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
STR / Subcontract Coordinator
- Reviews and approves inspection test plans
- Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals
Education and Experience Requirements:
Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience assigned to a construction site organization in a Heavy industrial direct hire role commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken.
- Experience in oil, gas, refinery, petrochemical, minerals processing, or power generating station construction is a benefit.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
- Ability to coordinate and communicate with FE Geotech and Resident Engineers on monitoring and instrumentation requirements.
- Experience in organizing, interpreting, and understanding geotechnical monitoring requirements.
- Ability to coordinate and organize subcontractors on Instrumentation installation schedule and requirements ensuring alignment with overall project needs and schedule.
- Clearly communicate with Survey and subcontractors on monitoring and record keeping requirements. Capable of holding subcontractors accountable.
- Experience in monitoring Geotechnical records, communicating with necessary party's (geotechnical engineering/resident engineering) daily/weekly to ensure compliance with the monitoring program.
- Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Excellent problem-solving ability.
- Experience managing technical services subcontracts.
