Project Overview:
The Driftwood LNG project represents a substantial investment in Lake Charles, Louisiana, with construction anticipated to generate ~5,000 jobs at its peak. Once fully operational, this LNG facility will consist of five trains developed across multiple phases, enabling the delivery of approximately 27.6 million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas. This capacity enhancement is poised to significantly bolster the United States' LNG export capabilities, thereby contributing to global energy markets and addressing increasing international demand for natural gas.
Job Summary:
As the Social Performance Manager, you will play a key role in driving the project's success by implementing effective social performance management strategies. You will oversee external affairs and communications, with a focus on sustainability initiatives that align with our commitment to social responsibility and environmental stewardship.
This role is crucial in fostering positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, keeping them engaged and well-informed throughout the project lifecycle, and ultimately enhancing the project's overall impact. #LI-HB1
Major Responsibilities:
- Leads the social performance, sustainability and communications team to implement and deliver management plans that promote effective communication and embed sustainability practices throughout the project lifecycle.
- Leads customer and community interfaces on delivery of the project’s social performance program.
- Analyses project and community impacts and expectations for project performance.
- Anticipates project related issues and risks, as well as government and community expectations to develop and implement timely mitigation strategies.
- Leads media and communications management plans.
- Assesses and manages compliance to, and regulatory reporting of, project social performance outcomes, local content, and social impact management.
- Manages the social investment program to build a positive project reputation and build relationships built on trust with stakeholders such as civic organizations, local government and local businesses.
- Provides strategic advice to project leadership on potential reputational impacts, expectations, and related implications of project decisions;
- Develops and maintains a stakeholder map and interaction register to track, monitor and report community consultation and stakeholder engagement actions and outcomes, including management of community grievances.
- Supports development of a local business register to enhance local participation; works with the supply and procurement teams to identify potential opportunities for such businesses to participate on the project.
Education and Experience Required:
- Requires a bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 10+ years of relevant experience or 15-19 years of relevant work experience.
- Must have the right to work in the U.S.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent leadership abilities with experience managing teams.
- Experience in sustainability, social and economic development, communications, media and/or community relations.
- Strong analytical skills to drive data-informed decisions.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences.
- Local knowledge and strong stakeholder relationships.
- Construction and/or LNG industry experience a plus.
