Job Summary:

In this role, you will plan, develop, design, coordinate, and review architectural work on large projects with unique requirements. You will prepare discipline estimates and work plans, review and approve design documents, interpret regulations, and assist with performance reporting. Your recommendations for resolving complex issues will help ensure client satisfaction with a project’s architectural aspects.

 

This role is at the Knoxville Execution Center and will support projects within the Nuclear, Security and Environmental global business unit of Bechtel. #LI-AM3

 

Major Responsibilities:

Level 1

  • Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the architectural work to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications​, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications​ 
  • Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions​ 
  • Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirements​ 
  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders​ 
  • Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals​ 
  • Prepares letters to vendors and clients​ 
  • Plans, coordinates, or prepares equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations​ 
  • Coordinates architectural efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups​ 
  • Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations​ 
  • When delegated, provides guidance to other architectural personnel for specific tasks or project-subgroups​ 

 

Level 2

  • Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the architectural work for a small size project or assignment in support of a global business unit​ or staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications​ 
  • Develops and interprets design criteria and specifications for complex architectural infrastructure. Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions​ 
  • Reviews bid analyses and makes recommendations​  
  • When delegated, provides guidance to other architectural personnel for specific tasks or project-subgroups​. Reviews and checks work of others as assigned​ 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Level 1- Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
  • Level 2- Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the components and organization of a design package (specifications, plans, elevations, sections, details, enlarged plans, etc.)
  • Prior experience with CAD system (eg. AutoCad, Revit, Microstation, etc.)
  • Prior experience with general knowledge on code evaluations
  • Registered Architect (or ability to obtain in 6 months)
  • US Citizenship
