Position Summary

As an Electrical Designer your role will be to support development of raceway design, equipment location and layout, C&R schedule inputting and updating using SETROUTE, conduit, and raceway design. Responsible to produce lower and higher tier drawings and documentation in accordance with established conceptual design and scope, modelling, including cable pull calculations, design of lighting using AGi32, grounding layout, grounding designs, and lightning protection systems.

 

This role will be based in Knoxville, TN, with periodic business travel required.

 

Responsibilities

  • Electrical Physical Design (and circuit and raceway).
  • Responsible for raceway design, equipment location, C&R schedule inputting and update, conduit, and aboveground raceway design.
  • Works under the direction of senior engineers/designers.
  • Produces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of lighting, communications, grounding layout, grounding designs/calculations, and lightning protection systems.
  • Capable of independent creative design, with direction, using Bechtel and industry proven concepts and procedures.
  • Ensures electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Level 1: AA/AS degree; or in lieu of degree, high school diploma or equivalent with 4 years technical experience with certification in engineering drafting/design or CAD.
  • Level 2: AA/AS degree with 2 years of related design experience; or in lieu of degree, high school diploma or equivalent and 6 years of related design experience.
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficient experience in Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Hands-on use or classes using industry wide design/drafting tools such as 2D/3D CAD.
  • Must be able to collaborate well with other disciplines.
  • Ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
  • Excellent oral & written communications skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven electrical 2D/3D CAD design skills.
  • Experience with Revit and/or S3D.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Knowledge of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE standards.
  • Experience with an electronic Cable Management System.
  • Previous Bechtel and/or DOD or DOE project experience.
