Job Summary:

In this role, you will use 2-D/3-D computer-aided design (CAD) to develop designs for electrical engineering such as raceway design, electrical equipment layout, and cable routing. You will help construct detailed scale models, develop work plans, and review drawings for quality, accuracy, and completion. Your collaboration across disciplines will coordinate compliance and quality in the overall project design. Responsible for producing lower and higher tier drawings and documentation in accordance with established conceptual design and scope, modelling, cable pull calculations, design of lighting using AGi32, grounding designs, and lightning protection systems. This role is based in Knoxville, TN, with periodic business travel required. 

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-SNH

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for raceway design, equipment location and layout, C&R schedule inputting and updating, conduit and aboveground raceway design.
  • Works under the direction of the Engineering Group Supervisor and/or Lead Designer.
  • Assists in constructing detailed scale models.
  • Ensures compliance with approved electrical design standard, applicable installation codes and regulations in own work and by those assigned, to provide quality design.
  • Reviews and checks calculations, design models, drawings, and design documents prepared by assigned designers/drafters for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality, and satisfactory completion.
  • Participates in constructability reviews.
  • Coordinates the reviews for the accuracy of bulk material quantity take-offs and material requisitions for materials applicable to the discipline.
  • Works with designers in other disciplines to coordinate overall design and technical requirements.
  • Assists in the development of work plans, budgets, and schedules for basic electrical designer tasks based on input and direction from supervisor in designated discipline.
  • Provides on-the-job training for personnel within electrical design.
  • Generates 2D drawings or 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models with guidance from others.
  • Communicate effectively and work well with others within a team.
  • Enter data into an electronic Cable Management System.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires AA/AS or Certificate in Engineering/CAD with 3-4 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • US Citizenship required.
  • Working knowledge of industry-wide design tools, such as CAD 2D, cable designing, and routing software.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs and other computer programs.
