Project Overview:
Bechtel is the licensing, engineering, procurement, and construction partner on TerraPower’s Natrium team. Selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program, Natrium is participating in a DOE initiative to re-establish U.S. leadership in nuclear energy that provides matching funding to industry to design and build an operational advanced reactor. TerraPower, a leading advanced generation technology company founded by former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, will be deploying its 345 MWe sodium fast reactor (SFR), called Natrium. The Natrium plant features an advanced, cost-competitive reactor design that is safer, simpler, easier, and less costly to construct, less expensive to operate, and able to provide energy that is competitive with fossil fuels. It also features an innovative molten salt energy storage system designed to be complementary to solar and wind power by evening out the peaks and valleys in production when the sun is not shining, or the wind is not blowing. With the reactor and energy storage output combined, the plant can produce more than 500 MWe of power.
Other Team Natrium partners include GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, Energy Northwest, PacifiCorp, and Duke Energy, along with support from a number of national laboratories and universities. This DOE program has the potential to be the largest funding program for advanced nuclear power in U.S. history and will shape the future of nuclear energy for decades.
We invite you to join our team for this very interesting opportunity!
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced 4D Project Planner to support integrated planning and execution efforts across major capital projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining 4D schedules that combine traditional CPM (Critical Path Method) scheduling with 3D model integration to enhance planning accuracy, visualization, and project coordination. This role plays a critical part in improving constructability reviews, identifying sequencing risks, and enhancing communication with stakeholders. #LI-EH1
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and update 4D schedules by integrating project schedules with 3D models utilizing tools such as Synchro, Navisworks, or similar platforms.
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, procurement, and project management teams to establish realistic sequencing and ensure alignment with project execution strategies.
- Conduct 4D model-based reviews, highlighting construction sequencing, spatial conflicts, access requirements, and schedule risk areas.
- Facilitate planning workshops and coordination sessions with discipline leads to validate logic ties, durations, constraints, and constructability.
- Support the development of baseline schedules, updates, progress measurement, and forecasting in accordance with project controls procedures.
- Produce high‑quality 4D visualizations and simulations to communicate phases of work, installation sequences, and milestone achievements to internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in schedule risk assessments, scenario planning, and “what‑if” analysis to optimize execution strategies.
- Ensure all planning and scheduling activities comply with company standards, procedures, and contractual requirements.
- Provide reporting, narrative summaries, and executive‑level presentations as needed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

- Prior experience supporting large-scale construction execution in field environments required.
- Must be able to meet nuclear security screening requirements and obtain unescorted access authorization.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background verification.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in project planning/scheduling; experience in 4D scheduling highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 (required) and 4D planning tools (Synchro, Navisworks Manage/Timeliner, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, project lifecycles, and work packaging.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BIM models, and construction documents.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly across diverse audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively and interface effectively with multi‑discipline teams.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and review products independently with minimal supervision using a high level of professional judgment and knowledge.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
- Nuclear power project experience, particularly new-build or first-of-a-kind projects.
- Prior nuclear power plant development, permitting, engineering, and procurement experience.
- Experience with Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) or similar execution methodologies,
- Familiarity with 5D cost integration concepts.
