Project IT Field Lead

The Oil, Gas and Chemicals GBU Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) Organization is looking for a skilled IT professional for a Field IT lead position for a large-scale LNG project based in Karratha, Western Australia. The candidate will analyze, diagnose, design, plan, execute and support project automation needs and IT infrastructure requirements.

The Field IT lead performs work that requires the application of a significant range of fundamental information technology principles in a variety of contexts while demonstrating strong leadership. The position will be responsible for directing and training team members on information technology in areas including network/telecommunications, information security, and infrastructure operations.

Position will start in Perth, Western Australia on a short-term assignment then transition to the jobsite in Karratha, Western Australia in early 1Q 2020 pending FID (Final Investment Decision).

Job Dimensions:

A. Supervision Received

  • Receives technical and administrative supervision from the Project IS&T Manager.
  • Performs assignments independently with instructions as to the general results expected.
  • Receives technical guidance as appropriate from a senior discipline team member on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.
    B. Supervision Exercised
  • Provides technical direction and assigns work to discipline subordinates or others who assist in information technology activities
  • Monitor and organize staff operations.
  • Performs performance reviews and recommends personnel status changes for assigned staff.
    C. Contacts
  • Makes frequent contact with users as necessary to gather or give status information, address project automation needs and requirements.
  • Contacts discipline staff specialists as needed for specialized information technology activities.
  • Contacts vendor representatives, equipment vendors, and other related groups and customers internal to IS&T on technical and/or billing issues.
  • Maintains contact with other discipline groups and outside consultants to ensure proper integration of various phases of work.
    Essential Job Duties:
  • Leads team members responsible for IS&T Temporary infrastructure operations.
  • Leads team members responsible for network engineering and installation of network/telecommunications.
  • Leads and supervises installation, tests and commissioning of network/telecommunications components such as routers, firewalls, voice/data switches, Cisco systems, Radwin/Ubiquiti, Cradlepoints, Datavaults/Basecamps, Datapods, push-to-talk (PTT) devices, etc.
  • Develops network/telecommunications operating procedures and guidelines as they relate to data/voice switches, routers, firewalls, and voice/video equipment.
  • Develops standard server and storage system configurations, monitoring tool configuration and deployment.
  • Responsible for specifying, installing and operating server and storage systems.
  • Responsible for implementing information security for the project including policies, procedures and standards that support the information security program and protect against unauthorized usage, modification, disclosure and destruction of data/systems.
  • Provides technical direction, development, training and mentoring to subordinate team members.
  • Provides procedures, process flows and technical direction to others on Project relative to the discipline.
  • Develops problem resolution guidelines and responds to and identifies problems and expedites corrective action. Takes responsibility for chronic problem escalation, resolution and documentation.
  • Identifies key threats and risks to information and other assets and provides management with pertinent information to assess and apply adequate protection as necessary.
  • Runs reports against service levels, runs metric reports and analyzes the data.
  • Plans for and assures the implementation of system changes on a project wide basis including preparing work orders and communications packages.
  • Evaluates new technologies and techniques that will result in business benefit for the organization.
  • Participates in standards establishment process to assure operational consistency on a project wide basis.
    Basic Qualifications:
  • Recognized degree in Computer Science or Information Technology from an accredited college or university
  • MCSE and/or Cisco certifications advantageous.
  • 15+ years of experience in information technology managing complex large/complex LAN/WAN configurations for multi-site companies or relevant equivalent experience in other information systems and technology disciplines.
  • Must have 15+ years of project field experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Information Technology infrastructure systems, architecture concepts, configurations and standards.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of network architecture, operations management, security, and technology.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of corporate, industry and professional standards.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of information/data security standards, policy and procedures.
  • Knowledge of projects or functions including engineering, procurement, construction business applications.
