Planner/Scheduler - Shutdown & Special Projects

Project Overview:

Pluto Train 2 is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility near Karratha in Western Australia run by Woodside Energy. 

Pluto Train 2 will process Scarborough gas and have an LNG capacity of ~5 million tonnes per annum. As part of the construction of Pluto Train 2, additional domestic gas infrastructure will be installed to increase capacity to ~225 Terajoules per day.   

Woodside Energy has selected Bechtel to deliver the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning scope of work for Pluto Train 2.

Position Overview:

Planner/scheduler supporting schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery plan development activities for 2023 Project shutdown & other specific construction scopes including Brownfield activities with additional support requirements. Required to helps/perform project organizational and administrative activities related to planning tasks. 

 

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical & operational directions and assistance to assigned personnel in the development and integration of individual schedules into the total project plan.
  • Reviews the performing organization’s and unit’s work logics, and finds whether the schedules adequately help the overall project schedule.
  • Plans, coordinates, and establishes the level of quantification appropriate to the objectives of the effort and to the level of scope definition for each discipline or specialty, and designates reference job(s) for source data and/or reconciliations of quantities.
  • Reviews completeness and reasonableness of quantities.
  • Independently develops and maintains achievable, resource loaded, logic driven project schedules that integrate Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Start-up and/or Operations work scope into a total project plan that meets the project’s delivery objectives.
  • Provides comments and recommendations for planning requirements relative to staffing and project controls.
  • Prepares detailed staffing plans for jobsite activities and functions
  • Interfaces with designated Bechtel management and client counterparts for specific planning and scheduling tasks.
  • Supports the collection, verification, and integration of work scope for all entities into the total project plan.
  • Reviews the representation of project scope in schedules.
  • Establishes the conceptual scope of schedule studies.
  • Prepares and examines comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between the projects.
  • Performs productivity analysis of construction operations and verifies results.
  • Establishes productivity basis to be utilized in estimates, as developed in concurrence with Construction. 
  • Reviews labor estimates for reasonableness.
  • Plans and supports the effort to establish milestones for the specific project schedules.
  • Reviews project work activities to ensure the help of project milestones.
  • Coordinates the timely, systematic, and complete acquisition of scope definition and related data.
  • Directs, reviews, and evaluates schedule durations for all disciplines’ activities relative to the help of project milestones.
  • Supervises/directs the calculation of durations and other considerations affecting activity durations.

 

Qualification/Job Requirements:

  • Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, which include schedule development, control, and analysis, in the field and the home office.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes, as performed by Bechtel.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present schedule products independently with minimal supervision. This includes using a high level of professional judgment and knowledge related to technical planning and scheduling skills and engineering design, construction, and procurement practices.
  • Experience on major lump sum projects with direct hire construction strategy is required
  • Experience on LNG projects is preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Proactive self-starter with a proven ability to work independently and efficiently

 

Additional Information:

This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).

The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products – i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco - are permitted to be brought to the site. Mobile phones and other personal electronic devices – i.e. wireless headphones, iPads, smart watches - are also not permitted on site.
