Project Overview:

 

Pluto Train 2 is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility near Karratha in Western Australia run by Woodside Energy. 

 

Woodside Energy is Australia's leading natural gas producer, and Bechtel is excited to be working with this key customer to help meet the increasing global demand for LNG as a transitional energy source.

 

Job Summary:

 

As an Operations Manager, you will manage and supervise the operations group during the commissioning, initial startup and operations phase for an LNG facility.

 

You will ensure that activities executed are performed safely and in accordance with project and corporate procedures, reviewing and providing input into project procedures as well as following management of change procedures.

 

Reporting to the Project startup Manager, you will maintain contact with other project groups to ensure project startup and operation activities are executed safely.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for the supervision and direction of the commissioning, startup and initial operations group
  • Develop team structure for startup execution. Identify key resources and timing requirements from engineering and operations as well as vendors and contractors teams to participate in startup activities and work with the organization to ensure smooth startup and operations.
  • Reviews and provides input into the preparation of operations manuals.
  • Maximize transfer of knowledge from startup to operations team through onsite mentoring / information exchange, use of operations personnel in team, validation of startup routines for future use, capturing lessons learned.
  • Coordinate with all parties relevant to startup planning and execution including design commissioning, operations management, HSE management, Quality etc.
  • Develop and lead others in development of substantive, high quality startup planning and procedural documentation verification.
  • Performs performance reviews for personnel supervised and ensures they receive appropriate technical assistance and on-the-job training for their professional development.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

 

  • Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 15+ years of relevant experience or 19+ years of relevant work experience
  • Extensive technical knowledge of startup and plant operations within a type of industry. LNG plant experience is preferred or ethylene plants.
  • Broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and criteria pertinent to startup, maintenance, operations, or testing.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • Broad, progressive work experience including senior supervisory experience in startup, operations, or other relevant experience in design engineering, construction, field engineering, or plant operation in power, industrial, or process facilities.
  • Demonstrated skill in leadership.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.

 

Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.

Additional Information:

 

This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).

 

The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products – i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco - are permitted to be brought to the site.

 

This position is available to both local and non-local personnel. For non-locals (FIFO/DIDO), the working roster is 3/1.
