Project Overview:
Pluto Train 2 is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility near Karratha in Western Australia run by Woodside Energy.
Woodside Energy is Australia's leading natural gas producer, and Bechtel is excited to be working with this key customer to help meet the increasing global demand for LNG as a transitional energy source.
Job Summary:
The Tagging Authority Lead is responsible for managing the Permit to Work (PTW), Energy Isolation Permit (EIP) and work authorization (WA) program in a large-scale LNG Train during the Construction, Commissioning and Startup phases.
This position requires experience with Energy Isolation management and planning.
You will provide Energy Isolation and Work Authorization training and guidance to all personnel on site.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide input and support to the Construction, Operations and Commissioning teams, in piping, mechanical and electrical isolations, test procedures and work authorizations.
- Identify isolation boundaries based on work scope, develop Energy Isolation Permits (EIP), write EIP tags, markup engineering drawings, de-energize equipment, de-pressurize systems and implement proper Isolation devices to ensure work can be performed safely.
- Administer and manage the EIP and WA programs with strict enforcement and record keeping.
- Perform other duties as directed in support of project activities.
- Monitor work progress as well as preparing reports and forecasts.
- Co-ordinate activities with other disciplines or areas and client representatives.
- Other responsibilities as designated.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- 15 years of previous Energy Isolation and Permitting Office experience, 5 of which have been in Commissioning, Maintenance and/or Operations with at least 10 years as a Lead Tagging Authority or equivalent program administration.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be familiar with standard industrial engineering practices and safety requirements
- Must be proficient in reading and understanding engineering drawings.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment that incorporates client project and operations teams, contractor, and specialty service providers, in a very specific time-related delivery schedule for a major facility.
- Knowledge of multi-discipline construction and previous experience of working with Operations personnel.
- Knowledge of construction monitoring and analysis tools and methodologies, and of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications and familiar with Bechtel Q4 system preferred.
- Able to work under job-site conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving ability.
- Knowledge of Australian codes and standards preferred.

Additional Information:
This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e., respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).
The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products – i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco - are permitted to be brought to the site.
This position is available to both local and non-local personnel. For non-locals (FIFO/DIDO), the working roster is 3/1.
