Project Overview:

Pluto Train 2 is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility near Karratha in Western Australia run by Woodside Energy. Pluto Train 2 will process Scarborough gas and have an LNG capacity of ~5 million tonnes per annum. As part of the construction of Pluto Train 2, additional domestic gas infrastructure will be installed to increase capacity to ~225 Terajoules per day.   Woodside Energy has selected Bechtel to deliver the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning scope of work for Pluto Train 2. Woodside Energy is Australia's leading natural gas producer, and Bechtel is excited to be working with this key customer to help meet the increasing global demand for LNG as a transitional energy source. 

 

Job Summary: 

The HSE & Training Coordinator will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of safety and continuous learning on the Pluto Train 2 Project. This dynamic position involves developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive health, safety, environment, and training programs. The successful candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about promoting a safe and productive work environment.

 

Major Responsibilities:

Health, Safety, Environment, and Training (HSE&T):

  • Deliver impactful training elements and modules as per the Project’s HSE Training Management Plan.
  • Develop, maintain, and update HSE&T project documentation to ensure compliance and relevance.
  • Manage and coordinate HSE&T project reporting requirements, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Report conformance to the HSE&T Management Plans on a monthly basis, highlighting key achievements and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure competency for project personnel working in prescribed occupations and/or operating prescribed occupation plant and high-risk activities.
  • Assist in maintaining the HSE&T project registers, ensuring all data is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Verify and assess subcontractor conformance to Health, Safety, Environment, and training plans.
  • Participate in review of corrective actions and lessons learnt to help minimise recurrence or repetition of non-conformance or incidents.
  • Coordinate and facilitate engaging HSE campaigns and initiatives that drive safety awareness and participation.
  • Coordinate the training schedules for the project, ensuring all training needs are met efficiently.
  • Engage Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) for HSE training requirements, fostering strong partnerships.
  • Support the day-to-day activities of elected RTOs providing HSE training, ensuring high-quality delivery.
  • Support development of innovative training materials and presentations.
  • Support all aspects of the Project Hazard School, promoting hazard recognition and risk management.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement the Craft Professional Peer on Peer (PoP) Leadership program, enhancing peer learning and leadership.
  • Facilitate, administer, and monitor the HSE&T Leadership programs, ensuring they meet project goals.
  • Ensure a comprehensive record retention system is maintained as per project requirements, ensuring data integrity.
  • Promote and encourage a learning culture within the Pluto 2 Project, driving continuous improvement.
  • Track and implement requirements for refresher and specialised training, ensuring ongoing competency.
  • Maintain HSE&T calendars for the project, ensuring all activities are scheduled and tracked.
  • Support projects with specialised training requests, providing tailored solutions.
  • Support the project HSE Manager and Deputy Manager as required, contributing to overall project success.
  • Driving VOC if required, ensuring compliance with vehicle operation standards.
  • Provide communications support for HSE&T initiatives, enhancing awareness and engagement.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Project HSE Manager or delegate.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Degree or Graduate Diploma in Safety and Health or Hazard Management preferred.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (TAE40116).
  • Experience in HSE education and training on large construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Western Australia Workplace Health and Safety laws and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and manage multiple priorities.
  • General Construction Safety Induction (White Card).
  • Emergency response qualifications (desirable).

Additional Information:

This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).

The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products – i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco - are permitted to be brought to the site.  

This position is available to both local and non-local personnel.  For non-locals (FIFO/DIDO), the working roster is 3/1.
