Project Overview

Pluto Train 2 is a proposed single train brownfield expansion of the Woodside-operated Pluto LNG facility, located on the Burrup Peninsula near Karratha in Western Australia.

Bechtel was awarded a contract by Woodside to complete the front end engineering and design (FEED) and construction readiness activities for the expansion. The awarded contract also includes an option for Woodside to progress to a lump sum engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for execute phase activities. This option is subject to, among other conditions, a positive final investment decision (FID) being taken on the project. Woodside is targeting FID in H2 2021 and is expecting to be ready for start-up in 2025.

Pluto Train 2 will be a high energy environment with around 2,500 jobs at site at peak, providing a great opportunity for people to further their careers on a key Western Australian project.
