Project Overview:
Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.
Headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.
Job Summary:
While based in the project Health, Safety and Environment team, the Health and Safety advisor will be required to work and focus on proactive, preventative and innovative approaches to managing the impacts of working in high risk, dynamic environments.
This role is a FIFO position on a 2:1 roster to Karratha.
Major Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of strategic health, safety and wellbeing plans to reduce risk exposure.
- Assist team to develop, implement and maintain health, safety and wellbeing risk analysis as part of the PPSS project.
- Conduct and review incident investigations
- Conduct and review risk assessments including SWMS, JHAs and other Work Health and Safety Management plans / procedures to ensure appropriate implementation of the PPSS WHS management system.
- Actively review WHS data and identify trends or areas
- Undertake workplace inspections, assessments and audits, identifying and reporting corrective actions and non-conformances.
- Establish, promote and monitor work practices that maintain health and safety, control risk and comply with legislative responsibilities in complex correctional environments.
- Assist project leadership in the implementation of health, safety and wellbeing initiatives.
- Prepare and deliver written health and safety reports as required.
- Development and delivery of health and safety training
- Develop strong and effective relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A degree or relevant post-graduate qualification in health and safety experience with the profession; or at least 10 years health and safety experience in major construction project work
- Construction White Card
- Cert IV Training and Assessing TAE40116 (preferred)
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience leading incident investigations using causal analysis framework such as ICAM or Taproot
- Must be able to undertake a pre-employment medical
