Project Overview:

Pluto Train 2 is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility near Karratha in Western Australia run by Woodside Energy. 

Woodside Energy is Australia's leading natural gas producer, and Bechtel is excited to be working with this key customer to help meet the increasing global demand for LNG as a transitional energy source.

 

Job Summary:

As Electrical Work Package Field Engineer, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination.

Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. 

This is a FIFO role working 3:1 roster, based in Karratha, WA.

 

Major Responsibilities:

Work Planning & Packaging - Electrical & Instrumentation

  • Assemble and update work packages.
  • Prepares construction drawings and sketches. 
  • Facilitates planning construction methods and procedures.  
  • Integral part of the Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Field Engineering team.
  • Perform data entry into the SETROUTE and TEAMWorks systems.
  • Prepare and manage Inspections and Test Reports.
  • Uses the SETROUTE® system in areas including application support, quantity tracking, material withdrawal, cable reels control, issuing installation cards, construction work packaging, start-up system scoping, and associated work processes.
  • Supports the installed quantities tracking process maintaining the SETROUTE® database up to date and reports installed quantities progress on weekly bases to field project controls while demonstrating strong leadership.

Material Management 

  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment. 

Quantities 

  • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required. 

Safety / Quality Control 

  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely. 

Technical 

  • Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Required Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or international equivalent) and 3-5 years of relevant experience in large construction projects.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Advanced level capability with MS Excel and Access is required. Experience with other database platforms is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and problem solving ability.
  • Must possess a high degree of individual initiative, discretion and diplomacy.
  • Must be flexible and able to accept and quickly adapt to changes in work focus.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current.
  • General awareness of electrical work processes and Australian Standards is required for this role.

Additional Information:

This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).

The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products – i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco - are permitted to be brought to the site. 

This position is available to both local and no-local personnel. For non-locals (FIFO/DIDO), the working roster is 3/1.
