Project Overview:

Bechtel has been engaged to provide EPCM services to replace three (3) existing bucketwheel reclaimers in northwest Australia. The Project includes the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the new bucketwheel reclaimers as well as design and construction of associated off-board scope, including earthworks, marine infrastructure, structural works and electrical upgrades to support the installation and operation of the new reclaimers. An opportunity exists within the Bechtel project team for a Shutdown Coordinator to work closely with our customer in a planned series of shutdowns to enable the project to tie into the existing operating stockyard.

Job Summary:

In your new role as Area Superintendent, you will be working in a supervisory capacity as part of an EPCM Project team where you will be responsible for supervising and directing operations within a major eathworks and concrete package. This role will be site based on a 2&1 FIFO rotation . The site is brownfields and will require execution of major elements of scope in a shutdown environment. You will supervise works contractor activities, subordinate superintendents and others as assigned, and provide back-to-back coverage for the Site Manager when required 

Major Responsibilities:

•    Field construction operations.
•    Determine workforce requirements, coordinate established area operational plans, schedule work to be performed and verify work accomplished by works contractors.
•    Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
•    Coordinates activities with other disciplines or areas and client Operations representatives, as instructed by construction management.
•    Performs employee reviews and identifies training and development opportunities for personnel.
•    Other responsibilities as designated.

Education and Experience Requirements:

•    A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, or specialized courses in construction technology and management, and/or prior relevant work experience.
•    Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation.
•    Knowledge of the Six Sigma program tools and methodologies.
•    Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities and demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
•    Knowledge of the use of contracts, and the works contractor’s responsibilities contained in contract documents.
•    Experience working with, supervising and administering works contractors in an EPCM environment.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

•    Detailed knowledge of earthworks and concrete operations
•    Knowledge of the WHS Act (2020) and Regulations (Mines) 2022
•    Familiar with Critical Risk Management 
•    Completed Mining Statutory Supervisor training
