Project Overview:

Jubail is one of Bechtel’s most remarkable achievements—a city built from the sand up, requiring vast resources and logistical planning on an unprecedented scale. It the biggest civil engineering project in modern times—and it's getting bigger. Bechtel has managed the Jubail project, located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, since it began in the mid-1970s. Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company (SABCO) serves as the Management Services Contractor (MSC), or “owner’s representative” for our client, the Royal Commission (RC). We are the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) managers, managing design submissions from local AE firms, and overseeing the actual construction work being performed by local contractors and sub-contractors in Jubail and Ras-Al-Khair Industrial Cities. In June 2021, Bechtel’s contract with the Royal Commission was renewed for another 5 years with work focusing on building new residential communities, iconic buildings/ bridges, major site preparation, commercial buildings, mosques, schools, hospitals, sports facilities, clinics, universities, utility services and infrastructure (electrical sub-stations, lift stations), roads and highways, port & pipeline expansions, and more. 

Job Summary:

In this role, you will participate in the design, development, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes. You will collaborate and support other engineering disciplines for mechanical matters. Your professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard mechanical engineering techniques and criteria will enable you to make impactful contributions to the team. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for reviewing HVAC designs, Technical drawings, Technical calculation and other relevant document to support Project Stage deliverables from concept design up to Project Close Out.
  • Review of construction documents and HVAC system specifications for various commercial, residential, industrial, power substation, Telecom and health care projects.
  • Participates in internal and external engineering activities and the interdisciplinary interfaces in close coordination with the discipline engineers and/or contractors.
  • Supports Senior Engineer for Identify gaps, provide analysis and develop options on impact to closing any project engineering requirements.
  • Participates in review engineering development, either in-house or external, to ensure clarity of scope of work and alignment of specifications and deliverables with engineering requirements.
  • Conduct building HVAC, code evaluations for new and existing facilities
  • Assist with on-site observations during construction and coordinate design requirements with contractors and equipment suppliers under the direction of Chief /Lead Mechanical Engineer
  • Supports Senior Engineer in the development of HVAC specifications.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or related subject with minimum 2 years of relevant experience in the field of Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC)
  • The candidate should have some experience in designing HVAC, Plumbing and Fire protection systems for educational, residential or commercial/Industrial projects.
  • The candidate should have a knowledge and some experience in application and interpretation of the Following codes & standards: ASHRAE, NFPA, IMC, IFC, IPC, IBC.
  • Knowledge and some experience with HVAC calculation using industry standard software and program.
  • Knowledge of Pumping System Design
  • Knowledge of adopting Sustainability Principles
  • Experience in developing Mechanical Systems specifications.
  • Participates in quality reviews of projects, in accordance with engineering procedures and instructions and assists supervisor in quality reviews.
