Essential Technical:

  • Diploma / Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in Crisis and Disaster Management Planning.

 

Essential Behavioral:

  • Demonstrate excellent written, verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to explain new work processes and technologies to all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrate leadership in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to balance work requirements from multiple competing task assignments.

 

Preferred Technical:

  • Military, para-military, emergency services and/or health services type experience and training.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

 

 Preferred Behavioral:

  • Self-motivated individual with good leadership and interpersonal skills and experience, with the ability to influence.
  • Ability to manage priorities and take on additional evolving responsibilities with demonstrated experience providing direction/supervising a team.
  • Ability to work within an integrated Royal Commission/Bechtel team at multiple levels from working level to Project Manager level.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders to make critical decisions where required.
  • Ability to work within a culturally diverse organization, recognizing and respecting differences.

 

Detailed Job Description

 

Job Purpose:

  • Ensuring the identification of all lessons to be learned from incidents and exercises are recorded and managed through appropriate reports and action plans

 

Basic responsibilities and functional tasks

Operational Tasks:

  • In partnership with all stakeholders and CDMD Team, coordinate and capture the learning opportunities from incidents and exercises to ensure a clear approach to improving future capabilities.
  • Prepare Develop Posts Activity Reports (PAR) in partnership between the CDMD and stakeholders and ensure the appropriate recommendations and actions are managed effectively.                                  
  • Research and review previous incident reports to identify reoccurrences of actions that can be improved and make recommendations to the Head of the Section
  • Review strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and develop proactive plans to address them.
  • Assist in the development and production of emergency plans, training and exercises as part of continual professional development and to support the CDMD workload demands
  • Provide the necessary insight and background on the initiatives of the Department of Crisis and Disaster Management Planning and monitor the relocation of plans in various departments.
  • Work with and across all sections of the crisis and disaster management department to ensure continuity of services and workloads
  • Assist in the development, design, delivery of training and exercises to test and resilience plans and capabilities including all learning lessons processes
  • Other related tasks as assigned.
