Project Overview:
After more than 35 years operating as a successful uranium mine, the Ranger Project is entering its rehabilitation stage. Bechtel will be working alongside ERA and major stakeholder Rio Tinto to restore the land to the status of its surrounding World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park. A collaborative project, this project will be developed in consultation with the Mirarr Traditional Owners and will benefit the Jabiru community.

Job Summary:
Bechtel is looking for an experienced Turnover Engineer to join us on a FIFO arrangement to manage the turnover process for a broad range of multidisciplined related construction and demolition engineering work for one of our key clients. During this project you will be expected to provide engineering assistance to the turnover process of a number of multidiscipline packages. Receiving technical and operational supervision from the Project Field Engineer, you will also interface with the construction and engineering design functional group to identify and resolve handover related issues that may occur in the field and with the related paperwork.
In this role, you will champion the completions / handover processes by coordinating obtaining and recording certifications and turnover/handover documentation and processes for the project, through construction, commissioning, and handover phases of each program of work. You will assist with and follow up on completions documents and packages, inspection requests, and quality assurance reviews. Your work will help ensure programs of work are completed successfully, on time, and meet customer requirements.
Major Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the verification and systemising of Turnover documents for completed works.
- Approved the preparation of contractor quality records and as built drawings.
- Assists Construction Engineers, Superintendents and Contractors in preparing test and quality records.
- Resolving outstanding technical queries from construction contractors.
- Reviews specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals and technical data as it relates to turnover documentation.
- Coordinates with the Site Construction Manager on turnover packages.
- Assist with the creation of historical Turnover packages.
- Reviews and approved Turnover packages delivered from contractors.
- Works with various functions to ensure the project achieves corporate goals set for environmental, safety & health, quality, cost, and schedule.
- Leads completions certification and turnover/handover for the scopes of work within the project, through construction, commissioning, and handover phases of each program of work
- Incorporates handover requirements from the customer and construction turnover requirements, as provided into the systems completion database
- Monitors the production of contractor certification deliverables, including quality of submissions, and adherence to agreed schedules
- Develops reports as specified by supervision and generates on a periodic basis
- Coordinates plant turnover/handover to end user/client and system completions between parties on-project compiling documentation, ensuring quality and consistency of turnover/handover packages to the client for the construction and/or CSU team
- Maintains lists and turnover processes as documented by procedure and directed
- Inputs provided data into system databases and administers the systems completion database; ensuring that requirements are set for systems under their purview
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A recognized degree in engineering or scientific discipline and 15 years’ experience in heavy industry.
- Technical knowledge of, and experience in, earthworks, electrical mechanical structural field construction engineering discipline, including methodology, cost, scheduling, and contracts administration relating to the construction of infrastructure projects, preferably with bulk material movement, and demolition elements.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Prior practical engineering work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the Turnover requirements in a complex commercial setting.
- Willingness and ability to work FIFO rosters, travelling to/from various office/project site locations within Australia.
- Safety, quality, cost, and outcome focussed.
- Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
- Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards. Exposure to completion system would be advantageous.
- Experience working with, supervising, and administering subcontractors and/or Direct Hire workforce.
