The Energy Resources of Australia (ERA) Ranger rehabilitation project is what you’re looking for! After more than 35 years’ operating as a successful uranium mine, the Ranger Project is entering its rehabilitation stage and offers an exciting opportunity for you to make a positive impact on the environment. ERA has engaged the global engineering firm, Bechtel, to support ERA as Delivery Partner for ongoing study work. Bechtel will be working alongside ERA and major stakeholder Rio Tinto to restore the land to the status of its surrounding World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park. A collaborative project, this project will be developed in consultation with the Mirarr Traditional Owners and will benefit the Jabiru community.

Located 8 km east of Jabiru and 260 km south-east of Darwin, the Ranger Project will lead the way in the fast-growing area of mining closures.  This is your opportunity to join an established team, develop as a professional, and work in partnership with our client – contributing to a long-term commitment to people, communities and the environment. Job Summary:

In this role, you will monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project with multiple stakeholders’ involvement, through the coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff. Your field supervision will help ensure operations are planned to coincide with overall established schedules and that work methods are planned and executed safely. 

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and directs subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractors' management staff within the civil discipline.
  • Responsible for the cost, schedule and optimization of craft labour and maintaining the four week look ahead schedule for labour and equipment.
  • Review and approve major subcontractor equipment mobilization and demobilization.
  • Responsible for implementing corporate project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned civil operations.
  • Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecasts.
  • Plan the manpower and equipment required to execute the job.
  • Provide leadership for safety on the project. This includes safety orientation, preparation of safety procedures and leading Bechtel and subcontractor safety meetings.
  • Champion the cause of ZERO Accident Philosophy. Ensure that Bechtel and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements
  • Works with Construction Field Engineers and other stakeholders in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents 
  • Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors. 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10 years of relevant experience, or 15 years of relevant work experience in the absence of a degree.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership in Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) and to a zero Incident program or Similar
  • Knowledge of EPCM contract Management, and the Contractor(s) and their subcontractor’s (if applicable) responsibilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of Bulk Earthworks and associated earthmoving fleets and equipment.
  • Previous demonstrated experience with large scale de-watering processes.
  • Familiarity with civil industry quality standards.
  • Extensive experience in civil construction of large projects.
  • Knowledge of construction technologies & supervisory functions relating to field activities.
  • Excellent presentation, and both oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly advantageous to have experience with geotextile installation and capping layers on Tailings dams.
