Project Overview:
After more than 35 years’ operating as a successful uranium mine, the Ranger Project is entering its rehabilitation stage. Bechtel will be working alongside ERA and major stakeholder Rio Tinto to restore the land to the status of its surrounding World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park. A collaborative project, this project will be developed in consultation with the Mirarr Traditional Owners and will benefit the Jabiru community. Located 8 km east of Jabiru and 260 km south-east of Darwin, the Ranger Project will lead the way in the fast-growing area of mining closures. Interested to learn more? Job Summary:
In this role, you will provide expertise to support the evaluation of assets across the Ranger Mine and identify effective and efficient disposal methods for assets in line with scheduled closure / demolition activities. Disposal methods may include sales of assets through auctions, sales to other relevant organisations, the scrapping of assets onsite.
You will monitor and organise subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project with multiple stakeholders’ involvement, through the coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff. Your field supervision experience will help ensure operations are planned to coincide with overall established schedules and that work methods are planned and executed safely.
This role will operate on a FIFO 2 weeks on, followed by 1 week off roster to Jabiru.
Major Responsibilities:
- Conduct condition assessment of assets, assessing value and identifying cost effective methods for disposal that have the potential to return value to the project
- Develop business cases for disposal of assets, working with the Project Contracts team, the onsite leadership team, and external interested parties and/or organisations
- Monitors and directs subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractors' management staff within the area of responsibility
- Lead the preparation of the 3 weeks look ahead schedules and budget control with assistance and provide data relating to the disposal of assets and report weekly information and output quantities to Project Controls
- Monitors installation/removal of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements
- Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of progress, forecasts, and expenditures forecasts
- Works with Construction Field Engineers, Field Supervision team, in interpreting assets, creating sale documents, and other technical documents as needed
- Ensure the most current design documents are provided to subcontractor to complete work, and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation
- Coordinates engineering and de-constructability solutions with Subcontractors, and the Field Supervision team.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- 10 + years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience working with Auction houses for the disposal of mining assets is ideal. Sales to other mining operations are also highly valuable skills for this role.
- Sound levels of experience in a Mining environment, ideally in an asset management, contracts, logistics, or another relevant mid-level manager position.
- A recognized technical degree or certification or recognised prior practical work experience in a Mining environment is welcomed.
- Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program or similar.
- Significant experience in Mining or heavy Construction projects, and able to undertake and administer small to medium capital projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills must be computer-literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills.
- Proven customer relationship skills are essential.
Additional Skills that are advantageous:
- Knowledge of close client secondment interaction, EPCM contract Management, and the Contractor(s) and their subcontractor’s responsibilities.
- Knowledge of construction technologies & supervisory functions relating to field activities.
