Deputy Warehouse Supervisor

SUMMARY:

Supervises material management activities at project temporary operating and jobsite locations for a medium-sized or large project.  Develops and directs implementation of overall project material management plan to include project material procedures, facility needs, personnel requirements, inventory stock levels, detailed material management systems (manual or automated) and overall project material security plan.  Conducts orientation, training, and performance evaluation of project material management personnel.

 

 

JOB DIMENSIONS:

A. Supervision Received

  • Reports to and receives operational direction from Project Field Procurement management.
  • Receives functional guidance from the global business unit Field Procurement Manager.

B. Supervision Exercised

  • Provides operational direction to personnel assigned to materials management activities at the project’s temporary operating and jobsite locations.

C. Contacts

  • Maintains direct working relationship with Field Engineering and Construction concerning the receipt and availability of materials for issue to the field.
  • Maintains direct working relationship with Purchasing and Expediting concerning material delivery schedules.
  • Maintains direct working relationship with Accounts Payable regarding documentation for materials received and resolution of invoicing problems.
  • Maintains direct working relationship with Project Quality Control/Field Engineering regarding documentation for and inspection of applicable materials received.
  • Maintains direct working relationship with assigned crafts and clerical personnel in the process of receipt, storage, and issue of project materials.
  • Maintains direct working relationship with local carriers and vendors concerning the receipt and delivery of project materials.
  • Maintains direct working relationship with client and Procurement Management at project temporary operating and jobsite locations concerning material management functions.
  • Maintains direct working relationship with government agencies and related professional organizations regarding material management activities at project temporary operating and jobsite locations.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Supervises material management operations of personnel assigned to the project temporary operating and jobsite locations to ensure conformance to corporate, global business unit and project policies and procedures in all disciplines and functional areas for which material management is responsible including:
  • The receipt, inspection, storage, inventory control (manual and/or automated), physical security and issue of materials and equipment.
  • Identifying the need and completing the action for all unsatisfactory, over, short and damaged material and equipment received at project temporary operating and jobsite locations.
  • Initiating actions to identify and dispose of material and equipment that is declared excess to project needs by project management.
  1. Prepares or assists in the preparation of initial organizational charts for material management activities at temporary operating and jobsite locations.  Submits proposed changes for approval of the Project Field Procurement Manager (PFPM).
  2. Assists Project Field Procurement Manager in preparing Field Procurement workhour estimates.  Monitors employee utilization throughout the duration of the project, recommending applicable changes to the PFPM.
  3. Assists the PFPM in staffing project temporary operating and jobsite locations.  Recommends long-range personnel requirements and assists PFPM in coordinating the timely staffing of required positions.
  4. Prepares recommendations for facilities and equipment necessary to provide for professional material management operations at project temporary and jobsite locations, as specifically directed by the PFPM. This activity begins as early as practical in the planning stages and continues throughout the project.
  5. Directs the preparation of procedures and instructions establishing material management responsibilities and methods of operations pertaining to material management activities at project temporary operating and jobsite locations.  This responsibility specifically includes but is not limited to project procedures, which must be in compliance with approved Standard Work Process Procedures with approved variations if required.
  6. Continually reviews performance at the temporary operating and jobsite locations in order to validate personnel staffing requirements and determine that performance conforms to standards as reflected in project Procurement procedures and jobsite instructions.
  7. Establishes data to be collected to measure performance on a regular basis in alignment with corporate standards.  Directs the distribution of these metrics for management review, both functional and project.
  8. Assists PFPM in establishing and monitoring a continuing program to dispose of surplus materials and equipment as it is identified as excess to project needs by project management.
  9. Implements on-going training program for assigned personnel.

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of materials management automated systems, interfaces between systems, and how data is shared and managed.
  • Ability to blend materials management with project work packaging strategy.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of the full scope of materials management functions on a construction project, including personnel required to execute known workload.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Broad understanding of standard field procurement procedures, including knowing the requirements set forth in the Standard Work Process Procedures.

 

  • Experience with materials management for medium to large construction projects.
  • Coordinates and monitors personnel activities, including annual performance reviews, for material management personnel assigned to project temporary operating and jobsite locations as directed by the Project Field Procurement Manager.

Position for Quebrada Blanca Fase 2 Project Iquique, Port, Pipeline or Concentrator, Chile. With the purpose of being accredited to perform in the field, the position will begin in Santiago until receiving the corresponding authorization and then will move to the field as soon as possible to join the respective shift.

Salary will be based on current market rates and the posted grade will not be adjusted to suit the successful candidate.
