Job Summary:
This role is responsible for hands‑on ownership, development, and delivery of AI‑enabled solutions into live Project Controls and Estimating work processes. As part of the Corporate Project Controls EPC Transformation effort, this position serves as a technical product owner and process subject matter expert, directly translating real project needs and datasets into deployable, production‑ready AI solutions in partnership with project teams, functional leadership, and technology groups.
The focus of this role is execution, experimentation, and iteration - working directly with data, workflows, and tools to embed AI into day‑to‑day work. Success in 2026 is defined by measurable adoption and sustained operational impact across core Estimating and Project Controls workflows.
Multiple positions will be filled under this posting, with each hire expected to bring deep, hands‑on experience in different Estimating or Project Controls work processes and to individually own distinct AI use cases as part of a coordinated delivery team.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-AA1
Major Responsibilities:
Use Case Ownership
• Own assigned AI use cases from initial problem definition through use in live Project Controls and Estimating work.
• Turn real project questions and pain points into working solutions with teams from projects that will use the solution.
Data & Solution Development
• Work directly with project data to prepare inputs, check outputs, and adjust logic as needed.
• Investigate data gaps, quality issues, or inconsistencies and develop practical ways to address them.
Testing & Integration
• Test solutions against real project scenarios to confirm results are accurate, useful, and defensible.
• Integrate solutions into existing workflows so they fit naturally into day‑to‑day execution.
Tools & Collaboration
• Configure and refine AI and automation tools through hands‑on use and iteration.
• Work directly with project teams, functional SMEs, and technology partners to improve solutions based on real feedback.
Success in this role requires deep personal engagement with data, tools, and workflows rather than oversight of work performed by others.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of Project Controls and/or Estimating work processes on large projects.
- Experience working directly with project data, including checking, organizing, and troubleshooting it.
- Proficiency with Excel, Power Query, Power BI, SQL, and standard Microsoft Office tools, including Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Bechtel Project Controls applications such as EcoSys and Primavera.
- Familiarity with other Bechtel Project Controls tools such as BETK, EPIC, EVA, PAV, CFAR, and Hyperion is preferred.
- Basic familiarity with AI concepts and automation tools, including Copilot or similar tools.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Practical experience working directly in two or more core Project Controls or Estimating work processes.
- Strong track record as a hands‑on individual contributor, working directly with data, tools, and workflows.
- High level of comfort working with data (e.g., Excel, Power Query, Power BI, SQL databases, or similar tools).
- Experience applying automation, analytics, or AI‑adjacent tools to improve work processes is preferred, but deep AI expertise is not required.
