Project Overview:

Louisiana LNG is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid-scale, mixed-refrigerant Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River. There are five identical process plants. Each process plant consists of one gas pre-treatment unit, one condensate stabilization unit, and four Chart heavy hydrocarbon (HHC) removal and liquefaction groups. The facility will include associated utilities, refrigerant storage, three 235,000m3 full-containment LNG storage tanks, and three marine berths.

Job Summary:

The Supplier Quality Field Engineer Mechanical and Piping is responsible for providing technical reviews, and quality assurance and quality control verification of the mechanical and piping scope for all vendor and subcontractor supplied equipment packages. This includes the vendor/subcontractor shop fabrication inspection, installation and testing of all materials and equipment. This role requires extended periods of international business travel. #LI-CS1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Monitors supplier personnel activities including witnessing of operations, inspections, examinations, or tests to verify procurement document requirements have been met 
  • Performs hands on inspections to verify by re-examination the efficacy of supplier inspection efforts and to provide assurance of the conformance of equipment or materials to procurement document requirements 
  • Reviews supplier generated quality verification documentation to verify conformance to procurement document requirements 
  • Rejects material found nonconforming and collaborates with the supplier and project supplier quality personnel to obtain a course of supplier action which facilitates satisfactory disposition of disclosed non-conformances 
  • Releases conforming material for shipment and notifies other Bechtel functional organizations to assist in coordination of their activities 
  • Evaluates supplier’s conformance to specified quality criteria on a specific assignment or group of assignments to provide input to recommendations for placement of future orders 
  • Conducts surveys or audits or surveys of suppliers, when assigned 
  • Participates as an audit team member or technical resource for nuclear material and/or quality program audits 
  • Reviews supplier generated documentation applicable to materials, tests, components, quality-related activities and the qualification or certification of personnel to verify compliance to specified quality criteria 
  • Work with Procurement's expediting team to ensure the delivery of vendor equipment and materials to support the project schedule.

  • Ensure correct and complete documentation is provided by the vendors.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10  years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated strong lead mechanical field engineering experience on a major capital projects (7+ years)
  • Strong experience in construction and technical inspection in areas of installation and testing of LNG plant equipment, especially compressors, gas turbines, condensers is preferred
  • Must be familiar with ASME code and other relevant industry codes and standards Auditing and QA qualifications preferred Working knowledge of P&IDs and isometric drawings
  • Knowledge of Bechtel organization and Field Engineering roles
  • Familiarity with Teamwork’s and 3D Model Smart Plant Review
  • This position requires international travels to visit vendor facilities for inspections.
