Bechtel Enterprises:
Bechtel Enterprises (BEn) is the project development, finance, and equity group in Bechtel. Established in 1969, our primary objective is to develop, help finance, structure commercial arrangements, and/or invest equity in projects to create design, construction or project management opportunities for Bechtel. We have developed or co-developed over 70 projects ($46 billion in project costs) and have helped arrange over $54 billion in financing for Bechtel projects, including over 18,000 MW of power projects across 10 countries. We also innovate commercial models and facilitate Bechtel’s collaborations with private capital funds. Our group is unique in the US engineering and construction industry given our long history and global presence. In addition, BEn also gets involved in M&A and project acquisition activities, across power, energy, transportation, communication, and other sectors. Job Summary:
This role serves as the Principal Deputy in leading the Bechtel Enterprises (BEn) Private Capital Partnerships (PCP) team. The Sr Director will focus on driving the development and scaling of the PCP Initiative across Bechtel companies including execution of front-end advisory work while managing all operations of the fast-growing PCP team, including personnel, budgets, and achievement of annual goals and KPIs. The role is also the primary focal point for Bechtel’s internal governance and risk management processes. This is an opportunity for a visionary leader to drive innovative growth strategies, strengthen global partnerships, and deliver tangible results that shape Bechtel’s future.
Major Responsibilities:
Partnership development and execution:
Orchestrate and scale cross-GBU PCP engagements with aim to expand prospect generation.
Build and maintain deep, trustworthy relationships with PCPs and strategic partners.
Source, shape, and execute collaborations in conjunction with GBU partners to create privileged upstream opportunities ahead of EPC work.
Spearhead the development and execution of commercial models and key agreements and contracts.
Lead/support development of partnership engagement plans in collaboration with PCPs, GBUs and BGI stakeholders to further prospect generation. Support engagements at all levels in GBUs and up to the involvement of Bechtel’s Chairman and CEO.
Joint BEn/GBU Front-end opportunity development:
In collaboration with GBUs, identify and execute new joint BE /GBU solutions for customers, including joint Energy/ BEn front-end services for PCPs
Lead development of integrated technical, commercial, and strategic advisory solutions for customers that lead to generation of new work booked.
Lead development of joint BEn/GBU strategies to access new markets and opportunities.
Management and internal operations:
Serve as Operations Manager, leading day-to-day management of the growing PCP team, including workforce planning, resource allocation, and skills development in collaboration with the Managing Director
Develop annual budgets, track overhead spend, and ensure alignment of financial resources with strategic priorities.
Monitor team KPIs and ensure delivery of annual goals in collaboration with the Managing Director.
Lead orchestration of internal communications and preparation for key company mechanisms and committee engagements (e.g., Energy GBU 4-Year Outlook, M&BD Committee, Annual Strategy Review, Operating Committee, Finance Committee).
Serve as the PCP focal point for all internal governance and risk management processes, particularly the Management Approval Letter (MAL) process, ensuring alignment between internal requirements, external negotiations, and customer deliverables.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) required.
- 15+ years of relevant experience in energy, infrastructure, or related industries.
- Demonstrated experience engaging with external stakeholders, including customers, partners, OEMs, technology providers, government officials, consultants, and advisors.
- Experience managing teams and structuring work to access customer opportunities.
- Proven track record in originating, structuring, and executing complex commercial agreements.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong conceptual problem-solving skills with experience leading teams in ambiguous or high-stakes situations.
- Ability to build and execute growth strategies in uncertain environments.
- Excellent executive-level communication skills (written, verbal, and visual) with ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills to engage senior leaders internally and externally.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities to manage multiple priorities effectively.
