Job Summary:
In this role, you will direct the efforts and activities of the Business Development team in building relationships with customers, potential partners, and strategic/key suppliers. You will be responsible for identifying and obtaining new business, and managing preparation, strategy, and negotiation of proposals. Your leadership will be essential for generating future projects and growth at Bechtel.
Major Responsibilities:
- Manages departmental efforts and activities in improving relationships with customers and building relations with prospective customers
- Actively seeks understanding of customers' present and future plans for growth, projects, and programmatic and technical requirements
- Supervises the development and implementation of win plans
- Directs and actively participates in planning the business development/ capture strategy for specific prospects
- Keeps aware of the business development activity and strategy of competitors, including their pricing trends and approaches
- Follows up on jobs won and lost to determine the reasons why Bechtel was or was not selected
- Supervises the preparation and coordination of proposals
- Directs commercial strategies and leads proposal and pricing reviews with functional and senior managers
- Develops strategy and leads proposal presentations and fee negotiations with customers
- Directs the preparation and ensures corporate approval of contracts for awarded projects/studies
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience
- In addition to above, prefer 10+ years in engineering, procurement, and construction sales in the energy sector
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Proven long term industry relationships in EPC/Energy
- Effective communicator
- High level of emotional intelligence to navigate complex customer dynamics
- Deep market/domain knowledge
- Prior field project experience helpful but not required
- Creativity in “deal making” architecture
- Adaptable, proactive, self-motivated
