Job Summary:
In this role, you will support engineering design and studies in the hydraulics and hydrology (H&H) areas for projects executed by all Global Business Units (GBUs) in Bechtel, with focus on liquid natural gas, petrochemical and energy transition engineering analyses and design. Primary work duties include performing hydraulic design of pipeline systems including hydraulic transient modeling in support of system designs and permit applications. Responsibilities include preparation and checking of engineering calculations, study reports, technical specifications and design criteria. Successful completion of work assignments will require excellent teamwork and close coordination of work tasks with engineers in the H&H group and other engineering disciplines, and with the project teams. Background and working experience in hydraulic transient modeling of pipeline systems, review and/or preparation of PFDs, P&IDs, isometrics, equipment data sheets and piping specifications are essential to this position. #LI-ML1
"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership"
Major Responsibilities:
- Originate and review H&H deliverables including engineering calculations, licensing and permitting documents, study reports and technical specifications
- Specify, collect, review, and interpret H&H data required to support design and permit applications
- Review and interpret regulations and permitting requirements relevant to hydraulic design of piping systems and plant operations for different industrial applications
- Coordinate data input and result handover with stakeholders
- Adhere to schedule and budget for assigned activities
- Adhere to project execution plan, and quality assurance requirements and engineering procedures and instructions.
- Incorporate and share relevant best practices and lessons learned in H&H specific design and in general engineering execution.
- Receive technical and administrative directions from H&H supervisor
- Participate in technical excellence activities
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires M.S. degree in process/chemical/civil engineering or a related field and a minimum of 15 years of industry experience in pipeline design and hydraulic transient modeling associated with oil, gas and petrochemical and energy transition projects.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Working experience in hydraulic design of pipeline systems including steady-state and hydraulic transient analyses
- Proficient in the use of H&H hydraulic transient modeling software such as AFT, WANDA, HAMMER, PIPENET, SPS or equivalent
- Proficient in reviewing and processing data from 3D models, P&IDs, PFDs, isometrics, piping and equipment datasheets and specifications, and HAZOP study reports
- Working experience supporting LNG and petrochemical projects
- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, computer graphics, and utility programs such as MATLAB
- Excellent listening, verbal and written communication, planning, and organizational skills
- Professional Engineering (P.E. or P.Eng.) registration
