Job Summary:

The Senior Field Project Controls Engineer is responsible for integrating field planning, cost control, and productivity analysis to drive predictable, efficient, and cost-effective project execution.

This role operates at the interface between construction, planning, and cost engineering, working directly in the field with superintendents, discipline leads, and contractors to ensure:

  • Work is properly sequenced and executable
  • Productivity is measured, understood, and continuously improved
  • Cost performance is tracked, forecasted, and aligned with execution reality

The position plays a critical role in turning schedule and budget into actionable field insights, enabling proactive decision-making and early intervention.

Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Analyze short-interval plans (3-week / 90-day lookaheads) aligned with the master schedule
  • Break down schedules into field-executable work packages and sequences
  • Validate constructability, sequencing, and execution logic with field teams
  • Support weekly planning, coordination, and workface planning sessions
  • Support development and monitoring of field-installed quantities, labor costs, and installed units
  • Prepare and maintain cost forecasts based on: Actual performance trendsProductivity ratesRemaining quantities and execution strategy
  • Perform cost analysis using historical data and current performance trends
  • Ensure alignment between field progress, earned value, and cost reporting
  • Track and analyze craft productivity and installed quantities vs. plan
  • Identify: Productivity gapsInefficiencies and constraintsOpportunities for improvement
  • Develop and maintain productivity benchmarks using historical and project data
  • Partner with construction to implement improvement actions
  • Integrate schedule, cost, and field data to provide real-time performance insights
  • Develop dashboards and analysis tools (Excel/Power BI) to support field decision-making
  • Provide actionable recommendations to Project Controls and Construction leadership
  • Support trend program and change analysis
  • Work closely with: Superintendents and discipline leadsField engineers and Work Front Planning teamsProject Controls (planning, cost)
  • Support client reporting and reviews where required
  • Ensure alignment between field execution and project controls strategies

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
  • Typically 8–15+ years experience in: Field Planning/scheduling, Cost Engineering/Control, Productivity measurement and benchmarking

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and field execution, Cost control and forecasting methods and productivity measurement and benchmarking
  • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, Power BI, Project Controls systems ( EcoSys, DSCS, Primavera P6)
  • Ability to translate data into practical field actions
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
