Job Summary:
The Project Accounting Manager has the overall responsibility for the Finance and Accounting operations for a Large LNG project in Texas, USA. The position will initially be based in Houston, TX with frequent visits to site. The position requires the ability to maintain confidentiality with strong ethical behavior in workplace practices, ability to interface with senior site Bechtel and customer management, a customer-service orientation with a demonstrated professional demeanor and communication style, flexibility and commitment to meeting deadlines.#LI-HB1
Major Responsibilities:
- Oversight of all project finance operations in multiple locations.
- Manage prime contract invoicing activities.
- Oversee all facets of the project's Accounts Payable & Timekeeping
- Maintain general ledger accounts through timely and accurate recording and reconciliation
- Ensure that the project accounting operations are GAAP compliant.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements for tax returns and other required filings and remittances.
- Coordinate with Project Controls on the preparation of the project’s PFSR.
- Manage interfaces with external service providers such as banks, auditors, and tax preparers.
- Supervise staff inclusive of daily operations, salary planning, performance reviews as well as training and development. Support process improvement initiatives, including piloting new technologies and providing advice to stakeholders.
- Additional duties as assigned by Project Controls Manager or Project Manager.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of organizational structure, policies and procedures.
- Experience and proficiency in basic accounting functions such as payroll, payables, receivables, billing and financial accounting. Skill in analyzing and problem-solving techniques as applied to accounting.
- Excellent skills in working with and communicating effectively orally and in writing with internal and external personnel.
- Very proficient in computer applications and common software products. Able to develop complex spreadsheets with complex formulas, macros and ad hoc report writing.
- Strong knowledge of accounting and financial issues including an understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, practices, and techniques.
- Good Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively function in a matrix organization and manage complex high-volume activities.
- Requires working knowledge of computer systems operations as applied to accounting functions at larger projects.
- Ability to analyze financial data, provide early recognition of potential problems and provide effective and innovative thought processes in handling complex financial issues/problems.
- Experience in supervisory activities such as distribution and control of work, performance evaluation, coaching, interviewing, and training and development of personnel
