Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team and plan, develop, direct, and participate in plant design and piping engineering activity on large complex projects requiring major effort. You will maintain continuous contact with work in progress, conducting audits, and reviewing estimates, staffing, and budgets. Your guidance and support will ensure technical quality and resolution of complex and unusual design issues. #LI-MJ1 

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, directs, and participates in the day-to-day plant design and piping engineering activity on small to medium sized projects or a portion of a major project with minimal to moderate complexity within a global business unit​. 
  • Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of personnel assigned, estimates staffing needs and schedules, and assigns work accordingly.​ 
  • Provides the technical input to meet procurement requirements​. 
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of plant design and piping discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly​. 
  • Reviews and makes recommendations of the plant design and piping engineering aspects of bid evaluations and awards for approval by project engineering​. 
  • When directed, coordinates with client representatives to obtain their approval of plant design and piping engineering aspects of the work​. 
  • Reviews and approves key calculations, design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders for the project to which assigned.​ 
  • Ensures that assigned plant design and piping personnel receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.​
  • Must be authorized to live and work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Willingness to travel and/or relocate to jobsite in support of projects.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated skill in leadership with significant prior supervisory experience required.
  • Extensive experience developing, managing, and maintaining BIM models with defined LOD specifications (LOD 100-500) for the engineering discipline of Plant Design and Piping.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
  • Extensive knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines.
  • Extensive knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved.
  • Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, materials and software, and methods of application for Plant Design and Piping discipline.
  • Knowledge of typical Engineering Department Procedures, Design Guides, appropriate Standard Computer Applications and administrative practices.
  • High standard of oral and written communication, and use of MSOffice applications.
